Stylish Coastal Stay with a Few Service Hiccups
We stayed at Bannisters Pavilion and overall had a pleasant experience, with some highlights and a few areas that could be improved.
On arrival, reception was unattended, and we needed assistance from the night porter to obtain our room key. While this wasn't a major issue, it was unexpected. The room itself was lovely—comfortable, well-appointed, and equipped with everything we needed, including quality toiletries, a hairdryer, tea-making facilities, complimentary water, and coffee pods. The in-room coffee was excellent. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the block-out curtains worked perfectly, and I slept like a log.
Dinner was a highlight of our stay. As a coeliac, I was impressed by the staff's understanding of and attention to my dietary requirements. I enjoyed a delicious eggplant and crispy tofu curry, while my husband thoroughly enjoyed the prawn linguine. The service was friendly, professional, and welcoming.
Breakfast, unfortunately, was less impressive. After finding the lift would not take me to breakfast, I used the stairs and discovered a notice advising that breakfast would not be available until 8:30am, despite being advertised as commencing at 7:30am. This may not suit travellers who are continuing their journey early in the morning.
I also attempted to contact reception at around 7:30am, but the phone rang briefly and then disconnected. It appeared there was no reception staff available at that time. For a property of this standard, more accessible guest support outside regular business hours would be appreciated.
When breakfast was eventually served, I ordered poached eggs with halloumi, bacon, avocado and a coffee. The food was presented nicely, however the plates did not appear to be pre-warmed and the meal arrived cold or cooled very quickly. The poached eggs had a noticeable vinegar flavour and unfortunately contained pieces of eggshell, which was unpleasant. The avocado was served in its skin, which felt a little impractical. Interestingly, I preferred the coffee pods provided in the room to the coffee served at breakfast.
Despite these issues, the room was comfortable, the dinner service was excellent, and Mollymook itself is absolutely beautiful. Bannisters Pavilion offers stylish accommodation in a fantastic location, and with a little more attention to the breakfast experience and guest accessibility, it could be exceptional.

Our reception hours are 8am- 7pm, we do have an after hour night manager on site from 6pm to assist at all times, which looks to be what happened when you arrived. I apologise that you were unable to reach our afterhours number at 7:30am this should have been forwarded through to our night manager.
Our breakfast does commence from 7:30am, if you could advise which day you could not receive breakfast until 8:30am I would like to look into this as this is not something I am aware of.
I will pass along your feedback regarding the breakfast as this is not the typical response we hear and I am disappointed and sorry that we fell short.

Lovely property within walking distance to the beach.
Room was very clean, easy parking on property, roof top restaurant was very pretty, offering a nice menu. We booked, as recommended. Definitely recommend.

Fabulous spot, modern and clean hotel. Delicious rooftop bar and breakfasts! Staff all very friendly and welcoming!

We had a lovely stay at Bannisters. Some of the details are slightly lacking and feeling a little dated but it's a wonderful location and the staff, rooftop and ambience are great.
