Highly Recommended Hotel with Outstanding Hospitality

I had a wonderful stay at Momona Hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The staff was extremely welcoming and always ready to help with anything I needed. The food was delicious, and the location is convenient for getting around the city. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Addis Ababa.

Rooms are not as advertised. Everything from the bed linens and furniture needed to be replaced. The bed linens were so old they were now a dingy grey color instead of white. All of the furniture had stains, discoloration and were very old. The rug was the same. I turned on the water in the shower and brown water started coming out! Horrible! I had to stay two days, because all of the hotels were booked due to the AU convention. I had to bathe elsewhere due to the water issue. I Immediately left as soon as I could. I originally booked for 11 days. I asked for a refund for the days I would not be staying and the hotel refused. I would not stay here if you want a clean place to stay, enjoy good health, want fair treatment and not be taken advantage of financially.

disappointed with the hotel service

To give honest feedback. I booked a suite for three nights and received confirmation three days before check-in. When I arrived at the hotel to check in, the room had been given to another guest, and one of the staff told me that my room was not available and that I would have to be accommodated elsewhere, which was not planned (not an upgrade, but rather a downgrade). I did not accept the offer because I booked the hotel specifically because I wanted to stay there for a particular reason. Since I booked the hotel and did not receive a refund. I suggested that the hotel staff come back one day later. The next day, I still did not get the room I had booked, but rather some other room. Interestingly, the room had no card to enter the room. So I got a key. When I was in the room, there were no towels. I was really disappointed with the hotel service, so I didn't even use other services like the gym, sauna, swimming pool, and breakfast, even though all of these were included in my booked suite room. Management needs to be addressed, but for me this is my first and last stay at this hotel. I will never come back and will not recommend it to anyone. This is genuine feedback during my stay at the Monmona Hotel in Addis in January 2026

A stay with some areas for improvement

Our stay was disappointing due to safety and service issues. The pool was cold and unsafe, with no railing, a broken ladder, no lifeguard, and a very slippery floor. We had to change rooms because of cigarette smells and had key card problems. Most staff members were good and accommodating; however, there was an issue with one staff member during checkout, including miscommunication around payment. Overall, the hotel needs improvements in safety, room management, and communication.

Declined customer experience and quality of service

I have stayed at the hotel for a couple of years and the quality especially on customer service has drastically declined.
There’s this one lady in the reception desk that typically shouts at you.
Let’s not mention or start on the electricity issue. 2 of my weekends there were affected by lack of electricity
Just imagine no water to shower for 2 days.
And they were so unapologetic about it. I chose to leave and find another hotel.
