Bilingual staff was amazing, from the moment we arrived via the Airport-Port Lympia tram (conveniently located near L2/L3 tram stop). They have baggage storage onsite, the room air conditioning worked well in the extreme heatwave, and our slightly upgraded room was quiet with a partial view of the sea and the airport. The hotel is walking distance to a few informal restaurants/takeouts and a good supermarket. Allowing us to check in a little early and grab a shower after a long international flight really got our week in Nice, off to a good start. Optional breakfast at the hotel was good, with enough selection to be worth the convenience of not wandering out (though there are other wonderful places for breakfast in the area). Merci!

Disaster check-in
Disaster. At check-in (as I have already done on the web) a girl stood and stamped envelopes. She didn't look up at all when we, at 14:05 Monday, May 18, were to receive our room key. Because we were completely unsympathetic to her behavior, we put down our bags and went out. After a while she came out and “had time with us”. I've never felt so invisible and flattened as a customer. She obviously hasn't realized she works in the service industry.

Unpleasant
Following the cancellation of our flight, the airline directed us to the ibis Nice Aéroport Promenade des Anglais hotel.
When we arrived at about 8:45 p.m., we were treated to a catastrophic welcome. The company had confirmed that the hotel had to pick us up for lunch at the restaurant. Yet, on arrival, the bar waitress, particularly rude, refused to serve us while the service was still open to other customers.
She also refused to give us just a bottle of water, telling us to go order at a fast food restaurant and eat out, on the street, in front of the hotel... in the middle of February, with a strong windstorm. Among us were elderly people as well as children, all exhausted by this situation.
His colleague did not even give us the floor. After more than 3 hours of hard work and facing this total lack of consideration, we decided to leave the hotel. It was only then that the receptionist finally agreed to serve us some cold fries and still frozen tenders, a meal that was simply inedible.
Once in the rooms, the disappointment continued: poor soundproofing, constant noise, and the elevator literally made the walls shake.
A poor hotel and staff, yet dared to charge the airline an unserved menu. A shameful and unacceptable experience, especially in an already stressful context such as a flight cancellation.
