The location is strategically located near the train station for about 10-15mins walk. The room and amenities while old are quite spacious. Just one ick was the bathtub, the drainage had tinged of rust so I wasn’t able to use it. But it’s something I can forgo since we had just an overnight stay. The breakfast buffet selection was wide and delicious. I really enjoyed the Hokkaido milk, scrambled eggs and the bacon! The hotel staff are nice and accommodating. We enjoyed our overnight stay.

The hotel is great in the town.
Staff in helpful.
I believed the hotel family has been sometimes, yet they still do the job and clean.
If back to this town, will go back again.

It was remodeled

It's been a while since I stayed here.
It's a little far from the station and downtown.
Inconvenient for eating and shopping.
The rooms are not very spacious, just like a business hotel.
What's different from before is that the rooms and unit baths have been renovated and are nicely decorated.
Parking is free.

One of the better places to stay in town

With a friendly check- in, I was given Room 701, a large corner room which had nice views to the southeast and the southwest.
The room had twin beds, a couch and coffee table, a desk and another table with the TV on it.
The bathroom was pretty much in the standard business hotel style.
Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection and high quality. The décor of the restaurant is bright and modern and there are large windows which look onto a beautiful garden. It’s very nice and I wished I had had more time to spend at breakfast.
The coin laundry was very welcome, since I am on a trip bicycling the length of Japan. The machines did not automatically add the detergent, but there was a box of detergent there for guest use, very convenient.
A couple of small misgivings: There is no way to control the room temperature, and the windows don’t open, so you are stuck with the setting at which the hotel sets the central temperature control. The décor was pretty blah, and it was not cheap.
The location is good, walkable to the station and to the main cluster of restaurants. There’s a 7-11 a bit more than a block away.

If stopping in Takikawa then stop here - eat elsewhere

This Hotel is one of two in Takikawa Hokkaido, and is the more expensive and better class of the two.
Its claim to fame is that the Emperor with his wife once stayed here whilst passing through. It was some time ago and I don’t know exactly when as I cannot comprehend the Japanese calendar.
I don’t think he will be coming back soon as the place is now a little seedy and in need of modernisation especially in the ground floor restaurant and reception area. This does not apply to the reception staff who were particularly friendly and helpful but not the restaurant staff who were either incompetent or unhelpful depending on which of the two restaurants you were eating in. The food though was passable with plenty of it in the Italian restaurant. Beware, do not be tempted to try the Japanese wine which is pungent and awfully sweet.
Our room on the 6th floor was clean and roomy with a good bathroom although there was a strange aroma in the room. It could have been stale cigarette smoke although the room was now designated ‘No Smoking’
The hotels location is ideal being only 10 minutes’ walk with cases from the JR station and sad town centre where the main store and many shops are closed. There are out of town shopping centres.
