My favourite hotel in the world—and even better on our fourth stay
The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho is my favourite hotel in the world. I have stayed here four times, returning on every trip I have made to Japan, and it remains the hotel I most look forward to revisiting.
On this occasion, our family stayed for five nights in two rooms and was upgraded to the club floor. It was an expensive stay and a significant investment for two rooms, but the experience reminded me why this hotel continues to feel so special.
We arrived with a considerable amount of luggage, which was immediately taken care of, and were invited to complete check-in at the Club Lounge. The staff were exceptional from the beginning. The hospitality manager came over to introduce himself, spoke warmly with our children and spent genuine time discussing anime and sports with our son, whose birthday we were celebrating.
Our travel agent had informed the hotel about the birthday and communicated with them beforehand, but what the team created still exceeded anything we expected. When we entered the children’s room, it had been decorated with balloons, towel animals, sweets, treats, small toys and a large personalized happy-birthday sign featuring our son’s name. The room overlooked Tokyo, creating a scene and a family memory that none of us will forget.
The rooms are among my favourites anywhere. The beds, linens and fluffy duvets are extremely comfortable, and soundproofing is excellent. Across four visits, I have never experienced a noise problem.
My favourite feature is the long bench built into the window. It is genuinely comfortable enough to settle into, and I love returning after a long day, picking up a beer from the konbini and sitting quietly against the glass while watching Tokyo below.
This time our rooms faced toward Shinjuku. At night, we could see the neon in the distance and even zoom in on Hotel Gracery with a phone camera. The city view changes constantly and remains compelling at every hour.
The bathrooms are superb. The showers have excellent water pressure, and the large soaking tubs are extremely welcome after walking around Tokyo all day. The hotel supplies an extensive range of amenities, including soaps, skincare items, dental products and BYREDO shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. The hotel’s particular BYREDO fragrance is one I wish I could purchase separately.
Housekeeping is consistently excellent. Rooms are left immaculate, and the attention to detail is remarkable: even small charging cables left out are neatly wrapped. Turndown service includes slippers positioned by the bed, pyjamas laid out at the foot of it and a small evening treat. These touches create a feeling of being genuinely cared for.
The Club Lounge on the 34th floor is one of the primary reasons we return. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are available throughout the day. During cocktail service, the lounge offers sparkling, white and red wine, spirits, cocktails, enjoyable finger food, cakes and desserts. Sitting with a glass of wine while watching the city transition from daylight to neon is an experience I would happily repeat every evening.
SPA & FITNESS KIOI is another exceptional part of the hotel. The three-lane lap pool provides enough room for a proper workout, while the loungers beside it face directly over Tokyo. Families should be aware that the pool is limited to guests aged 13 and older.
The gym is medium-sized but thoughtfully equipped, with several treadmills, useful weights and machines, plus a separate stretching and yoga space. Like nearly everything else at the hotel, the equipment faces the skyline.
The most overlooked feature may be the bathing facilities accessed through the men’s and women’s changing rooms. They include showers, a warm bath, cold pool and sauna roughly 30 floors above Tokyo. The atmosphere resembles a refined urban onsen, but instead of mountains or a garden, you are looking over Marunouchi and Ginza while helicopters, trains, traffic and city lights move far below. It is one of my favourite experiences anywhere and something I have not found another hotel able to match.
We also love Sky Gallery Lounge Levita. Its dramatic architecture and enormous Tokyo backdrop make it one of the city’s most photographed hotel bars, but it still maintains a comfortable atmosphere. There is always a pleasant energy—music, conversation and the clink of cocktail glasses—without it feeling oppressively busy. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a whisky before bed.
We ate breakfast daily at Oasis Garden. The restaurant is beautiful and overlooks the city, the staff are excellent and the chefs prepare everything very well. My only meaningful criticism is that, after several longer stays, the buffet and made-to-order selections have started to feel repetitive and somewhat old-fashioned. A little more rotation and freshness would improve the experience. This is a minor observation from a four-time guest; first-time visitors will likely still find the breakfast luxurious.
The location is outstanding. The hotel connects directly to Nagatacho Station and is moments from Akasaka-mitsuke, allowing guests to reach the subway from their rooms without going outside. Most major areas of central Tokyo are only 10–20 minutes away by train.
The surrounding Akasaka-mitsuke and Akasaka area is also worth exploring. Within an easy walk are numerous restaurants, bars, cafés, convenience stores, karaoke venues and Bic Camera. Hie Shrine is nearby and highly recommended. Those who enjoy walking can reach the Imperial Palace in approximately 20 minutes, Roppongi in around 30 minutes, Tokyo Station in roughly 40 minutes and Shibuya in approximately 45–50 minutes.
Some reviews criticize the elevator arrangement because guests generally take one elevator from the ground floor to the lobby, then another to their room floor. Across four visits, this has never caused me a problem. I enjoy walking through the hotel, and the lobby views make the transfer feel like part of the experience rather than an inconvenience.
The Prince Gallery is undeniably expensive, especially for a family requiring two rooms. Nevertheless, it remains worth returning to because it delivers something deeper than conventional luxury. The extraordinary birthday welcome, sincere staff, peaceful rooms, thoughtful housekeeping, skyline lounge, remarkable bathing facilities and feeling of calm above Tokyo combine into an experience I have never found elsewhere.

Top Notch Property
We did extensive research to find this hotel comparing to luxury hotels across Tokyo. It’s overall very modern and extraordinarily well organized. I have a recommend this hotel both for its location and it’s amenities points worth noting the Club level is well appointed and provides a nice location to relax when coming in and out of the property the gum, indoor Pool and Baths are all very well appointed on the 30th floor. PROS: Bar has incredible drinks and excellent snacks. If you stay on Club, your breakfast is at their top restaurant with amazing bento

Spent 5 incredible nights with family and everything was perfect. Amazing staff at the Oasis, front desk and concierge was extremely helpful. Service was above and beyond. Everything was absolutely Fantastic. Thanks for such a memorable experience. Truly exceptional.

Exceptional Luxury Hotel with Spectacular City Views
The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho was one of the highlights of our stay in Tokyo. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, with every member of staff being warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming.
The hotel is beautifully designed, with elegant modern interiors and breathtaking panoramic views across the Tokyo skyline. Our room was luxurious, spacious, and wonderfully quiet, with excellent soundproofing that made it easy to relax despite being in the heart of the city.
The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore Tokyo while still enjoying a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.
The facilities were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the gym and pool, and the massage was one of the best ways to unwind after busy days of sightseeing.
The restaurant was another highlight. Every meal was absolutely delicious, and the restaurant staff were just as friendly and attentive as the rest of the hotel team.

Nice but not for families
The hotel is beautiful and has an excellent location with direct access to the metro, making it very convenient for exploring Tokyo.
Unfortunately, we felt that the service did not quite match the standards of a five-star hotel. There was no warm welcome, such as a welcome drink or refreshing towel, which is something we have come to expect from hotels in this category.
We also found the hotel to be less family-friendly than expected. Please note that children under the age of 13 are not allowed to use the swimming pool, and the bar is only accessible to guests aged 16 and over. Families with young children should be aware of these restrictions before booking.
