A getaway

Travelled here with my my wife 2 and our 2 grands. Used this hotel as the base to visit nearby sites like Gros Morne National Park, Insectarium and a Aquarium in Norris Point.
The hotel is really dated. It used to be a Holiday Inn. Need of renos and some TLC especially for the price they charge.
Kids enjoyed the pool but even that area needs some updating. Staff were great. Breakfast the next morning at the hotel restaurant was palatable but overpriced

Old, dirty carpets and generally dilapidated.

This place is a disgrace. We paid over $300 for a room with filthy carpets and windows. The furniture was old and worn. When asking about a senior discount, we were told ‘not for this room’. We felt uncomfortable just walking on the grungy carpeting. We had read previous negative reviews but were desperate because our flight was canceled and no other place had availability. The front desk staff said they were so busy that there wasn’t time to adequately clean the rooms, but this room hasn’t been updated and thoroughly cleaned in many years.
Do not stay here unless it is a last resort.

Dirty Rooms.

This was a horrible experience. Our initial room was rotten. Hairs on the bed, crumbs on floors. Definitely not cleaned prior to our arrival. we were moved to another room. That was barely better with hair on bathroom floor, washroom mirror dirty with stains on it as was the chair and trays in the room. no soap in dispensers. The carpet is rotten.we purchased lysol wipes and cleaned all surfaces. we debated removing our shoes. Wouldn't recommend staying there.

Room 323, Bed looked slept in when we walked in, wrinkled beddings. Sink didn’t drain. Many long black hairs on beddings, pillows, & the tub, HVAC unit so noisy and rattling all night. Room smelt like work boots and smoke. The phone has no decal indicators to know front desk from anything else, phone was sticky to touch ( ewe)
Fire your cleaner. Walls were also thin and could hear everything.

We have stayed at the Greenwood many times over the past 10 years. On this visit we found the overall appearance of the rooms had certainly deteriorated. The carpet had numerous stains, the toilet ran constantly, the shower curtain rod was falling of the wall making it impossible to keep the shower curtain closed which resulted in water all over the floor. Someone from maintenance did try to fix the toilet but in the end it still ran. We had breakfast at the hotel. The staff and service were great. The food came quickly and was hot. The hotel is definitely in need of an upgrade.
