Adequate, but not likely to return.

I booked the Delta Hotel Amsterdam City Centre because it seemed to tick all the boxes we required on our seven week tour of Europe, namely to be situated relatively close to the train station, close to attractions, and be reasonably priced. To be honest after reading some of the bad reviews I was a bit nervous about the stay. Whereas I feel some of the bad reviews are a bit harsh, many of the criticisms are warranted. It’s certainly not the worst hotel we have stayed in, it is a budget hotel with no frills that is very well located.
The positives of our stay were certainly the staff, who were always friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, and quiet, and based on what we experienced at other hotels on our European trip, breakfast was adequate.
The negatives were that we had had issues with the lights in our room more than once, most notably though on the morning of departure, we had no light in the bathroom, when I inquired at reception about fixing the problem I was told that we would have to wait until the maintenance person turned up at 10.00 am, so we showered and went to the toilet on our last morning by the light from the torch in our mobile phones ! Another minor gripe we had, also on the last morning was that we had a train to catch at 8.10 am and breakfast was from 7.00 am, however not much food was available at 7.00 am, we certainly did have breakfast, some coffee and croissants, just not the usual scrambled eggs, bacon, and boiled eggs that were usually on offer.
To sum up our stay, it was generally adequate, with pleasant and friendly staff, however we are unlikely to return though.

You don’t get much for your money in Amsterdam because everyone want to go there! and the Delta proves that point. Firstly the good bits - super central, good staff, very basic but clean. I had a room at the back so it was also nice and quiet. The not so good bits? No air con so impossible to sleep in the heat. I had a fan but it didn’t help much, also no window to let in any air. Might stay again, just never in the summer time.

The hotel provided us with a place to sleep at a great location. The breakfast was OK but not great. Boiled and scrambled eggs, beans, bread and rolls, coffee, tea and orange juice. Also granola, yogurt and fruit. The room was dull and boring. Our room on the ground floor at the back was quiet. It needed some tender loving car. No where to hang towels In the bathroom. The floor needed replacement. The linoleum tiles were lifting at the edges. No view other than a wall out the window. The TV worked well.
