Tasty food and great view

Great hosts and a lovely location overlooking the mountains and ocean. Very small bathroom and shower. The additional glass sitting area off the bedroom made up for the smaller room. Breakfast was fabulous.

Beautiful B&B

Beautiful rooms with sea views. The owners are very kind and caring. The breakfast is delicious, also very nice that you sit at the same large breakfast table with all guests so you have nice conversations with everyone. Location is perfect, walking distance to downtown and walking distance to seal colonies.

Disappointing 2-night stay;consider other options before booking

On the positive front, our en suite room (Crayfish) was clean and Julia, who checked us in whilst the owners were away and the owners , Mick & Karen, are friendly. But the negative aspects outweigh the positives:-
1. Two very poor nights’ sleep for us both due to a combination of the very thin curtains not obscuring the light and the noise from the busy state highway just outside (windows appear single-glazed)
2. Breakfast poor in terms of quality of ingredients (processed bread, poor quality orange juice, apparently frozen hash browns and spinach) and variety. Glad we’re only here 2 nights as without eating meat is v limited e.g told smoked salmon not possible. In addition, at this price point did not expect to have to choose either (apparently frozen) berries, granola & yogurt or a cooked option. Much less expensive establishments allow both.
3. The home-made cookies not labelled as being peanut butter; potentially a health risk.
4. Had hoped to watch the stars from the hot tub but access but allowed post 8pm.
5. No laundry facility available.
6. No luggage storage post 10am checkout…guests advised to go to the railway station. Relieved this was one of places we didn’t need it.

Wonderful hosts in a perfect location for outdoor activities in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Mick and Karen accommodated our late arrival. Mick greeted us upon arrival just before 9 pm Saturday night and quickly bounded up the stairs with both our pieces of heavy luggage!
Lovely room, and incredible breakfast that Mick and Karen prepared. They provided very helpful advice on activities, and we really enjoyed Kaikoura Kayaks.
Highly recommended!
