Amazing hidden gem in the middle of the Spanish Sierra. Incredible staff and comfy rooms. If you are looking for some peace and nature. This is the place to be. The restaurant is also very good and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Will definitely come back. Gracias

Disaster

The hotel deserves not four stars but three stars, the dining room is overcrowded, they force you to go down at a specific hour to have dinner and a specific hour to have breakfast, the surroundings are in great need of maintenance
Not advisable at all

Disappointing service

⭐☆☆☆☆
My experience has been very disappointing due to the lack of empathy and professionalism of the night reception staff and the hotel management.
I made an urgent reservation through Booking.com and, due to the rush, I made a mistake when selecting the date for the following week. Upon arriving at the hotel, around 12:30 AM, I explained what happened. The receptionist told me to modify the reservation through Booking.com. The application allowed me to do so by paying a supplement of €16, which I accepted without any problems. The only thing left was for the hotel to accept the change, but it appeared as rejected.
Instead of looking for a solution, the only alternative they offered me was to make a new reservation for that night and cancel the previous one the next day. I trusted their instructions and paid for a second reservation.
My surprise was that, the next day, the manager refused to refund the amount of the first reservation, claiming that I had to resolve it with Booking.com. In other words, I followed exactly the solution that the hotel itself proposed to me, and the result was paying twice for a single night.
I fully assume that the initial mistake was mine. That is why I agreed to pay the surcharge to change the date. What I do not accept is the absolute lack of empathy, that no one really tried to help, and that the hotel washed its hands of it after I had followed the instructions of its own receptionist.
Mistakes can happen; what makes the difference is how a hotel responds. In this case, customer service was nonexistent, and the final feeling is that of having been completely abandoned when I most needed a solution.

The environment is enchanting; the management is disappointing.

We chose this hotel for its four-star rating, its location, and the charm of the historic building. We left with the feeling of having stayed at an establishment that does not fully justify its rating.
The best part was undoubtedly the family duplex room. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a separate living room, a master bedroom with a two-meter bed, a functioning jacuzzi, and independent climate control on each floor. The surroundings also deserve special mention: absolute tranquility and a spectacular starry sky.
However, the hotel conveys a clear lack of maintenance and attention to detail. There are damages in the facilities, the access road is very deteriorated, the green areas appear completely neglected, and the spa remains closed.
The breakfast is adequate, featuring excellent Iberian pork loin, high-quality fruit, and a very professional attendant. On the other hand, the variety is limited, and the juices are clearly improvable. The bar's offerings also seemed poorly managed for an establishment of this category.
Nevertheless, the biggest disappointment came on the last night. Around 10:00 PM, we returned to the hotel intending to have a drink before retiring. We were informed that the café was closed due to a lack of available staff and that there was no room service either. In a four-star hotel, located about three kilometers from El Barco de Ávila and without immediate alternatives, it is difficult to understand that such a basic service is not guaranteed for guests.
In that situation, we resorted to the minibar in the room. After the shift change, the receptionist who joined acted professionally: he provided us with ice, glasses, and two complimentary soft drinks to try to compensate for the incident. His attitude was impeccable and deserves to be recognized.
What was incomprehensible was that, upon checking out, the hotel charged us the full amount for the minibar consumption. It is not about the additional 8.14 euros, but about the gesture. If the establishment itself decides not to provide the cafeteria or room service, it would have been appropriate to absorb that exceptional consumption as a compensatory gesture towards the customer. What less could be expected after the inconveniences.
It is a shame because the hotel has facilities with enormous potential and a privileged environment. With better maintenance care and, above all, with a customer service policy in line with a four-star rating, the experience would have been very different.

Disappointing

On Saturday, at 8:00 PM, all staff finish their workday, leaving only one person at the front desk.
After that time, no cafeteria or room service is provided, something that, in our opinion, fails to meet or contradicts the services advertised on the hotel's website.
In any case, this circumstance should be communicated in advance. It is not reasonable to go to the hotel with some friends to spend the weekend and discover, when trying to have a drink on Saturday night, that the cafeteria is closed and the nearest establishment is about 3 kilometers away.
The service received is unacceptable for a hotel of this category.
Furthermore, the hotel shows an evident state of neglect: the landscaping is in poor condition and both the pool and the spa remain closed.
In short, the experience has been very disappointing.
