A hotel that let you feel totally at home
Liyaou hotel is housed in a modern-looking building but when you come inside - you'll see its artsy and homey vibe. There are complimentary drinks - cold water & cold juice because they know that most of the time guests came from a long trip. They need to fill that thirst of walking. Space is not a problem. From the lobby to the your room, it's a breeze to walk around and chill out.
What I like:
FREE cute bikes to use to see nearby touristy sites
BUFFET breakfast made of various cuisines
STRONG WIFI for online addicts like me
FAMILY FRIENDLY. They have a room where kids can play toys and "swim" into a pit of balls.
I want to thank the staff Kevin who recommended a local restaurant that serves the best rice and turkey meat for 60 TWD only! Ask him where. It comes with free hot soup including 3 meatballs! We also loved the night market he also suggested to us. You can buy so many affordable clothes and eat local Taiwanese food!
It's a 20-30 min walk from MRT station. If you have a heavy baggage, it will feel like longer so up to you whether you take a cab or treat it as a workout.

Convenient
Located close to the Chiayi Train Station (to take the Alishan Forest Train). About a 5 minute walk from the station, doable with smallish wheeled luggage but probably best just to pay for a short taxi ride.
Clean & new but very basic. Breakfast was a disappointment - good by Western countries standards but lacking per Taiwanese standards. About a 13 minute trek to the Wenhua night market.

Chiayi Hotel.... short walk from train station.
Chiayi Hotel is a short walk from Chiayi Train Station, but make sure you Google Maps' suggested walk was taking us 200+ metres further than we needed.
Spacious double room. Serms a new hotel.
Quiet hotel located in laneways not main or secondary roads.
Good asian buffet breakfast.
Good aircon, lots of sports TV Channels to select from. Bathroom had ample space.
Staff were friendly enough but i guess few spoke English.
There's a terrific bakery down the Yanping Street laneway.... less than 100 metres. All sorts of sweet treats.
If expresso coffee is your go, Minos Coffee cafe is recommended. It's located in Lanjing Street just one street back from bakery shop. Again, less than 100 metres. Lanjing St is parallel to Yanping Street.

A tranquil delight in Chiayi, Taiwan
Hotel Liyaou is a laid-back, contemporary hotel with luxurious touches - a perfect place to stay in Chiayi. It is perfect for girly weekends, a romantic city break, an unruffled stay with the whole family, and visiting the Alishan Forest or Chung Cheng University. Thanks to all staffs. We won't forget our good memories staying there. The facilities, food and interiors were excellent.

If you are looking for a pure relaxation, this is the best place to be. If you fancy having a more relaxed night life, the night market was just 10-20 minutes walk. It's close accessibility to Chiayi Train Station, and it's close proximity to restaurants, cafes, shops and other tourist attractions, makes this hotel an absolute "must-stay" in Chiayi, Taiwan. Our mistake, we wished we stayed at this hotel for more than a night.

Cozy Minimalist. It's like a heavenly home with modern style and Taiwan character.
Food:
It was superb. You must try the dumplings.
Internet:
Fast and strong.
Bikes:
You can roam around Chiayi using their complimentary use of bikes (yes, for FREE) as long as you are booked with the hotel. Its the little extras and added touches that make this resort extra special.

Comfortable and Decent stay
Stayed for 1 night at this hotel. Very clean, nice and modern environment. Accessible to Chiayi Train station and night market in Chiayi. Decent breakfast. Tight security, main doors are locked after 11pm and need room cards to enter to the floors.
There is a "Re Chao" stall near to the hotel. Cheap and Good.
