Amazing Hotel for the price in a great location
I do not understand the other reviews. Having read them before travelling, I had considered cancelling and looking for somewhere else to stay. Ignore them, i am just back from 5 days at the hotel.
The hotel was spotless, both the room and the shared areas. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room had air con and heating. A small balcony but suitable for 2 guests. There is a mini fridge to put your water and juices in.
The shower was consistent. Once I found a suitable temperature for me, I never had to adjust again during my stay. The bathroom itself was large and clean with a and hairdryer if required.
Housekeeping did the things you expect. Emptied the bin, brushed the floor, made the bed, cleaned the bathroom, and changed the towels.
I never bothered with the breakfast as there are so many lovely cafes within a few minutes stroll that I was spoilt for choice. All offering coffee and snacks for around 3 to 5 euros/pounds [after conversation to Lek, exhange for local money at the airport or at one of the many exchange shops].
The beach and fro the is minute stroll from the hotel and whist the beach itself could be nicer the front was lovely. You could walk for around an hour along the front and then if you wanted another 30mins along would take you into the centre of Durres. From there it was also easy to take the service bus to Tirana for a day trip or the bus to the airport at the end of the holiday.

Not suitable for a European tourist
Rather an older hotel, many small hidden flaws, for example, the TV in the room is broken (it cannot be repaired, they say because of the weather, but all other rooms look fine) there are hairs in the shower drain, not mine as mine are short, the silicone is stuck in the middle of the tiles (certainly not just a week old) the grout of the tiles is black see photo, the wallpaper is held up with a stapler machine, etc.

AMH hotel review
Location is very good. Hotel is good 3star. Little more effort by management and head chef can push it to 4 star.
Stayed 7 days with family all inclusive.
Beds perfect also pillows great wife. Rooms kept clean pool is nice good size.. Food is ok but dull no change always the same needs creativity by the chef. Drinks basic.
Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Also good gym.

Loved the beach although there were no toilet facilities and a child had deficated on the shore line . I trod in it on leaving t
The hotel was basic and the food was barely edible. Sometimes it wasn't even labeled so you had to guess what was in the ban marie. There was no entertainment . On the whole I was very disappointed, I would not recommend this hotel.

Poor cleaning and dilapidated
Room: small standard room with gaudy furnishings. As Swedish quite "cheap" standard. There was a hairdryer that worked surprisingly well. Smelled very musty in the closet and no other possibilities to hang clothes anywhere. Small balcony bordering the back alley. Nowhere to hang wet towels except the balcony railing. If you are looking for a hotel that has that little extra, it is not this hotel. The bed was very comfortable, slept like a log. The AC roared and was difficult to adjust. The buttons didn't match. The sockets were loose but one of them worked anyway. Responsive to the corridor. Mold in the joints in the shower. Wallpaper released from the wall in some places.
Cleaning: inadequate. They don't seem to have the standard of cleaning the bathroom. After a week's stay, the bathroom was not cleaned once. seems like the daily cleaning only involves laying the sheet right and some days mopping the floor. Never felt really clean. However, dirty towels that were laid on the floor were changed daily. One day I asked for a new sheet when we got a dirty one. At first they just picked up the dirty stuff from the floor and nestled back in. Then we asked at the reception for a new one, they promised they would come. Had to remind twice then let me know sharply. Then we finally got a new one after 12 hours. The picture in the post is when the room is just cleaned and made.
Breakfast: if you like eggs, this is great. Fried, boiled, scrambled eggs, omelette. Then there were some different sausages, white toast, fried vegetables, natural yoghurt with some mixed musli and cereal. Coffee machine and juice machine. Different toppings and fruit. Very good breakfast. Absolutely no standard as in Sweden but still okay. There were also some dry cookies, all tasted the same.
Beach: just two blocks down. The hotel had its own sun loungers, which were provided free of charge upon presentation of the key card. Shallow. Pretty trashy beach, few trash cans. Perfectly okay sun loungers. Went to order drinks for the sun loungers which was great at a good price.
Service: very mixed service. Some super nice and happy, greets you when you walk past. Others very grumpy. They are quick to clear the table, regardless of whether you have had time to eat on the plate or no matter how the cutlery lies. No fingertip feeling there. Helpful at reception.
Gym: at first glance a Najs gym. Smith machine, several cable machines, some free weights, ez-bar, dumbbells, etc., however, all cable machines lacked carbine holders for the tools or were broken. Incredibly poorly maintained. Parts of the gym were used as storage rooms and staff changing rooms.
Pool area: it has probably been a nice pool area once. But now rather dilapidated. The decking on the floor is broken and boards stick up everywhere. The water was the first few days very thorough so I never dared to take a dip. There 's some sun loungers here you can use . However, there is a sound from speakers with howls (think it is to scare away birds?). Almost lost it after ten minutes at the poolside because of the noise.
Overall: would not choose to stay there again. Overcharged compared to what you get. But okay if you are looking for a bed to sleep in and like to eat eggs.
I wish I could have printed better about the hotel but this is my honest experience.
