Short family stopover
We were visiting family, and decided to book a 3 bedroom cabin here. We were very pleased we did. We informed the staff we’d be arriving after hours, they left our keys in the after hours box. Our cabin was easy to find, and the staff had left the outside, & inside lights on for us along with the air con - so it was lovely and warm. Very welcoming in the cold weather. The cabin was nicely maintained, and very clean. My husband , myself and 3 of our children enjoyed our short stay. We met Sam on check out, she was lovely and friendly. Location was good, cabin was well set up, beds were comfy, we’d happily stay here again. Pricing was also very reasonable .

Small caravan park,a bit out of the way,,but modern, clean and tidy,and suited our needs perfectly.On a hot day there was a sour odour from a local business,but was not noticable once inside,

Refusal of accommodation and unacceptable conduct at check-In
My family booked a cabin to break up the drive between Adelaide and Melbourne, as we were travelling with a toddler. The booking was initially made for two adults, which was an oversight on my part; however, this was corrected at check in when I advised that an infant should be included on the booking.
We were then refused accommodation on the basis that the park was not “insured” to cover our 18 month old child, despite the fact that she sleeps in a portable travel cot that we had brought with us. While I can understand that this may fall outside their insurance policy, the manner in which the situation was handled by the owner was unacceptable.
The owner was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to offer any alternative options at the advertised “family-friendly” caravan park, nor did he assist in suggesting other accommodation in town, despite knowing that we had travelled from Adelaide.
Following this encounter, we decided to continue travelling the remaining distance home. This resulted in a disappointing and stressful end to our two week holiday, which had otherwise been characterised by excellent hospitality across six different accommodation providers.
We were then refused accommodation on the basis that the park was not “insured” to cover our 18 month old child, despite the fact that she sleeps in a portable travel cot that we had brought with us. You might want to check if there are any more platforms you can use to run our business down after you created your own issue.
You booked a cabin that could not accommodate three people. Why do you blame us for this ? Why did you do this ? "Correcting" this at check in does not help when the cabin cannot accommodate your family.
You didn't make any attempt to contact us prior to check in to let us know you had a child and check that was OK.
You would not have been able to include an infant on the booking as the system would not accept the extra person.
You would have had to enter the number of people to search for availability when you did your online booking, and had you searched for 2 Adults and 1 Child, you would not have been able to book the cabin you did.
This type of thing is happening all too frequently, and it puts us at risk in regards to our insurance. We have occupant limits on each cabin that must be disclosed to our insurance company - both for public liability and fire safety reasons. With the recent fire activity in Victoria, we have had to be extra vigilant.
Insurance is already massively expensive for caravan parks, and we are not prepared to breach any conditions for guests who don't book the appropriate cabin for their group.
We had no other cabins that could accommodate your family on that night. We assume you'd realise that given you could have booked one if we did.
This has happened quite a lot these summer holidays, and quite frankly, we are tired of people thinking it's OK to book for less people than they intend to bring, whether this be because they don't want to pay extra for the additional guests or there is no accommodation available that fits the number of people they want to bring.
I can completely understand the manager's frustration on this.
You were given a full refund which resulted in our financial loss.
Do the right thing and you won't have a problem.
Leaving a one star review because you did the wrong thing is quite perplexing.
I can see you've created a Trip Advisor account just to do this.
Your situation and choices were of your own making.
