A Guest "At Home".

Dismiss any reviews prior to 2020 (Covid) when the Hotel changed hands; the new owners have taken it up a notch and from my many travels they have delivered an exceptional product and well deserved praise. Bottom line; It is quiet, the restoration, attention to detail , the art work, look closely and you will observe the little things that make this an outstanding place to stay. It is not a 24/7 cookie cutter Hotel which some may prefer. It is a stately home and you are a guest within this outstanding home, there to enjoy the trapping of a by-gone era without the hustle and bustle of a modern Hotel. Relax and enjoy your stay and appreciate the fact that you, as a guest, will feel "at home".

Beyond expectations

Grande Vue is such a pleasant and welcoming place to stay. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary here and it felt like a special occasion.

Overnight anniversary stay

Everything worked seamlessly thank you. The kitchen was well stocked, and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the wind howled over night so 2 wedges were not quite enough.

The Grand Vue Hotel is a memorable place to stay.

Conveniently located, the Grand Vue is just a 20 minute walk from Constitution Dock. The immediate historic area in Battery Point is full of options for eating out, such as the Shipwrights Arms Hotel, the Rice corner, and Da Angelo Ristorante. Parking in Mona Street wasn’t a problem. The Grand Vue house itself is a Queen Anne style mansion, built in 1906, that is wonderfully furnished and maintained. It is Grand by name and nature. From the choice of nine rooms, I felt fortunate to stay in The Knopwood Room, Room 3 upstairs with scenic views of the Derwent River. Given I had a several early starts, including a fresh walk and seeing the sunrise from the nearby water’s edge, it was great to be able to access the kitchen stocked with cereals and other goodies, which I enjoyed in the dining room looking over to Wrest Point.

Just perfect

Lovely character house, very elegant rooms, peaceful with good views of the river, simple but delicious breakfasts and the homebaked cakes in the afternoon are scrumptious.
Ash and the team are very attentive and helpful. There is no resturant or bar, which is no issue, as there are many places in easy walking distance to fine dining or cafe style food and pubs/bars, and there is a fridge in the room to have your favourite tipple on hand if desired.
It’s a short 10-15mins walk into the main centre of Hobart. I absolutely would recommend this hotel for those wanting to relax away from the mainstream ‘hustle and bussle’
