Clean, neat, friendly and affordable

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, neat and affordable rooms. We had everything we needed. We had the fillet steak, the lamb chops and sticky date pudding for our dinner. It was one the best meals we’ve had and would highly recommend the Hotel’s restaurant alone.

Good Food ... But ...

My wife and I dropped in for an evening meal. We shared the calamari and the creamy garlic prawns. The calamari was extremely tender and most enjoyable. The plump, well cooked prawns came in a tasty sauce along with steamed rice and a basic salad. Food wise the Hotel deserves higher than 3 stars but there was a LOUD Quiz running a competition for 4 or 5 tables. This was in no was advertised and spoilt what would have been a very good evening.

Unfriendly experience at the food counter

We dined at the restaurant on Friday, May 30th, 2025. I ordered medium sirloin steak, and my wife ordered pan-fried schnapper. The meal was okay, apart from the steak well done. However, the Barmaid behind the bar was abrupt and rude when taking the order we also showed our pension cards for discount that the pub advertises, which she acknowledged but we never gave us.

Simple but comfortable

Donnybrook is a charming town and the Donnybrook Hotel is in the centre, opposite the old train station. There's a lovely river walk with an IGA about 100m away. The rooms are not en suite and are quite small. However, the sleep quality was good and the bathroom not too far away. There is a pantry for making coffee / tea and there's a microwave available. Limited cutlery and crockery but one could manage. Food and drink not permitted in the bedrooms but not much space to eat in the pantry (only one chair). Bar downstairs was a bit noisy but there's a nice beer garden out the rear. Bar menu available. Staff were super helpful. Excellent for a rest on the Munda Biddi track which passes through Donnybrook.

Lovely food and drink

A crowd of us booked for early Sunday evening meal. Great service and the food was amazing - big portions with great prices. Everyone enjoyed their meals and can particularly recommend the beef Vindaloo very authentic. Thoroughly recommend this place
