A lovely little cabin close to town within the suburb of Halls Gap!
Hi there, we loved this cabin and were happily delighted to find that it was so modern, clean and very new. All amenities were in place, a lovely fireplace, a verandah and a clean modern bathroom. The lounge was spacious, big kitchen, free wifi and a fabulous new smart TV with netflix and foxtel all hooked up. We were very happy to arrive here. The only things we can complain about were as follows. Upon arriving at 7pm at night, it was very dark. There were no lights on when you arrive, so finding the key was near impossible. It would have been much better if they had installed a sensor light for arrivals, it's actually really dark, and you can't find your way at all and there is a step and the main stairs and a path..... The only outside lighting is on the veranda upstairs but it doesn't help you when you arrive, getting bags out of your car, dodging spiders or managing your way into the property/stairs. It was a little dangerous as we didn't know our footing, and you have to walk between pillars to get through to the stairwell. We also thought for safety of older people it was poor that there was no lighting upon arrival from where you park to the stairs and key holder. Be prepared to use your phone as a torch and to guide you to the entrance.
Another issue was that the photos are a little misleading of its' location. We honestly thought that it was tucked away in the bushlands, or in the trees/forest... but infact it's right there amongst lots of houses in the main suburban drag and there are houses right around you, in very close proximity. We were a little disappointed to be honest, as we wanted to escape and wake up to see trees, fields, kangaroos and be able to sit amongst nature, but there are houses on every side, so be prepared for that.
Another item to raise is there is no door on the bathroom to the bedroom, so if you want privacy, be prepared for someone to sit out side! :)
Lastly there are ceiling-high windows in the bathroom that don't have blinds and so if like us you're not morning people, be prepared for the bright light and the angle of the sun to stream directly onto the bed at 7am!! It'd be great to have a blind on that window so you can block out that light, as it's in direct line with the sun.
But overall, the place is really great, all the kitchen cooking utensils and items you need, and as mentioned above a great pot belly fire ( which was dirty when we arrived, so we cleaned it out from the previous people) and a lovely spacious living room. And it's only a short walk into town, and there are animals around, cockies land on your balcony and there are roos in the garden.
We definitely recommend, but be prepared for the arrival in the dark if you do get there after 5pm.
