Absolutely Superb Stay — Highly Recommended
Our three‑night stay at the Banjo Paterson Inn Motel in Jindabyne was absolutely superb from the moment we arrived. Even in the rain, our first impression was that the property was impressive and that we were in for a great stay. We parked in the upper car park adjacent to the road and soon discovered that this was the entry level for the motel rooms, with Reception located two flights down (or accessible via a path if the weather is kinder).
We stayed in a Superior Lakeview Quad Room with a balcony, and being on the end of the building meant we enjoyed views from two sides — a wonderful surprise. The room was spacious, spotless, and had a modern feel with plenty of bench space. The fridge, while slightly larger than a standard mini‑bar fridge, didn’t have a freezer compartment, but it kept our drinks cold. A lovely touch was the two complimentary cans of the Inn’s own brewed beer waiting for us in the fridge — perfectly chilled and enjoyed on the balcony as we settled in.
The bathroom was excellent: spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed. With no shower curtains or doors, we were impressed that very little water splashed onto the floor. The supplied toiletries were high quality and generously stocked, and the towels were large and soft. Water pressure was strong, hot water plentiful, and the adjustable shower head offered both rainfall and massage settings.
Breakfast was included and offered a good range of hot and cold options, along with percolated coffee. Food was replenished promptly, and only once did we need to ask for more poached eggs. It was a relaxed and satisfying start to each day.
We also dined at Clancy’s, the Inn’s restaurant, taking advantage of the Buy One, Get One Free offers through the Entertainment Book and NRMA apps. The meals were reasonably priced, generous in portion, and excellent in quality. The menu is available online and offers a solid variety of choices.
The location of the Inn is fantastic. Directly across the road are a children’s park and a skate park — neither of which we heard from inside the room with the door closed. Beyond them is the river, which provided a peaceful and relaxing view from our balcony. A club sits across the road as well, though we didn’t visit it this time. Jindabyne itself was a perfect base for exploring: we enjoyed a day trip to Cooma and another day visiting the Snowy Mountains, including Perisher, Smiggins, Thredbo, and Charlotte Pass.
Our room was serviced daily, with fresh towels, replenished toiletries, and a general tidy‑up each time we placed the “Make Up Our Room” tag on the door. The Wi‑Fi was flawless throughout our entire stay, with no drop‑outs or slowdowns. Staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient, and both check‑in and check‑out were a breeze.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend the Banjo Paterson Inn Motel to anyone visiting Jindabyne or the Snowy Mountains region.

Noisy rooms
Beautiful room overlooking lake. Buy paper thin walls. On one night we could hear the little girl talking in her sleep and her dad's response. On the Wednesday night one of our three night stay it was terrible
Noisy crowd drinking outside under our balcony and the thumping music went to about 1 or 2am. Felt this should have been on their website to worn people. Oh but they did provide ear plugs

Dog friendly lake views
Friday lunch on the sunny deck. Local beers brewed downstairs. Delicious burgers. Poutine. Friendly staff.

Rooms are clean, modern and spacious. Bed is very comfortable and the buffet breakfast included is great value for money. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. We will be back.
