Clean, Safe & Friendly

We recently stayed at the Tropic Coast Motel for one night while my daughter had a specialist medical appointment, and it was exactly what we needed.
The location was perfect—very close to the hospital and also handy to shops, which made everything so much easier. It’s on a main road, but honestly, once we were in bed, I hardly noticed any traffic noise at all.
Our room (Room 10) was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short stay. The bed was comfy, and the large wall-mounted TV was great for relaxing. Having a microwave, fridge, and a small bench table with seating made it really convenient too. The WiFi was also excellent in our room and worked great across our devices.
The shower definitely deserves a mention—beautifully hot with excellent water pressure!
Outside, there’s easy parking right in front of the room, which made coming and going simple. My child loved the small playground to burn off some energy, and the pool area was clean and inviting with plenty of seating. I really appreciated that both the playground and pool are separately fenced—such a great safety feature for families.
The staff were absolutely lovely—friendly, down to earth, and very helpful. When my daughter soaked her towel in the pool, they were more than happy to provide an extra one, which we really appreciated.
Overall, this motel ticked all the boxes for us—clean, comfortable, convenient, and family-friendly. The only small suggestion would be to include a butter knife and a fork for preparing and eating food when using the microwave.
We’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a comfortable, no-fuss place to stay in Mackay—especially if you need to be close to the hospital.

I gave it 3 stars for the cleanliness more so for the bathroom which was very tired. Mirror was peeling, toilet had a ring stain around the water in the bowl and the shower looked very old and used with what looked like a build of grime on the outside edge. Shower worked fine but wasn't really inviting. Overall the room was ok, we weren't expecting too much for a budget room but it was a little disappointing. Beds were comfortable enough, the exhaust fan in the bathroom was rattling and towels were a bit thin and rough. It did offer parking for our truck which was a bonus. Ok for a night stopover on a budget.

Great position with comfy bed.

Quite a good room but the TV didn’t work. Convenient with The Shamrock Hotel across the road for a good feed. Quite spacious and comfy bed.

Been staying here a number of times as it is very spacious and comfortable. Always clean and in a handy location. Good value for money.

Great value motel for our overnight in Mackay.

A great motel. Friendly reception. Very clean. Had real cutlery & crockery + washing up liquid, tea towel etc. Comfy bed. Installed hand wash, shampoo & cond, body wash minimising throw-away plastic Undercover parking right outside our door. Would definitely stop here again.
