This is a lovely and quaint hotel, close to the train station and shops and a few malls. Food and bars are plentiful and well presented. The hotel is old and needs maintenance. In our room the curtain was falling apart and couldn’t be drawn making it difficult to keep the street lights out. Under the fridge the chipboard is falling apart and needs replacing. The lift works well. Great to have a small veranda on the street to observe people go by. The tourist pamphlets were plentiful and informative. The staff was helpful and polite. Breakfast options nearby were appetising.

City break

Stayed for 5 nights in March.
Room was very tired and needed a deep clean - Curtains hanging off the rail, dust, missing net curtain, spotlight out, chipped paintwork, significant water damage to vanity unit in bathroom, only socket for the kettle was on the floor. I mentioned it on my first day and some things were addressed but it still needed a serious deep clean. I was offered the option to move but was told my new room might not be any better.
It's an old building, but there's no excuse for poor housekeeping and a lack of general maintenance and upkeep.
Location is great but other than that I'd avoid. Staff seemed disinterested. No smiles or hellos when you came and went.
GF food available at Deli Gabe but only discovered this on my last day!

Older property, so don’t expect flashy, but its location is great and it’s clean and tidy. Room was exactly as pictured. All staff we met were friendly and polite with a genuine smile. Would definitely stay again.

Not a great place!

The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, easy access via train from the Airport and centrally located for sightseeing. That's the good things! Now for the not so good. Upon arrival they want you pay for the room upfront (I've never had to do that in any hotel I have booked direct with anywhere) and they also add a surcharge for using a credit card which you don't notice until you see the receipt and is not mentioned on any of the paperwork I got before arrival. Next the rooms. They are a very shabby, a bit dirty and there were small cockroaches in the shower! As soon as noticed I asked reception for a different room or the shower drain to be sprayed asap but neither happened so I got spray and did it myself and got a pack of antibacterial wipes to clean bathroom and room as much as I could! The staff on reception were seemed very nice & helpful but nothing actually ever got done. Thank goodness we were only there a couple of days and not a long stay. If they buck their ideas up it would be a great place but they are clearly just after money and not interested in customer satisfaction.

Excellent location for a 1st time traveller. Right in CBD where public transit is free.
