Lovely apartments with great pools, could not be more central
We stayed here for 22 nights in 2105, a swim up 1 bed apartment. The apartment is spacious, well equipped in the main, kitchen is not large but adequate for 2 - 4 people. Bathroom is nice, great shower. Lounge is well appointed, wide screen TV. Outdoor patio/covered dining are us nice. Private deck, small garden.
The pool is nice, not heated but warm enough to swim in June. Our apartment had an electric BBQ, ok but not the easiest to cook on. Beds are very comfortable.
I need to mention here the brilliant reception team of Eddie, Valeria and Estelle, friendly, helpful, professional, literally nothing was too much trouble for them, they are a major plus for Mantra, you are lucky to have them working for you.
Some area for improvement, all about the apartment, it is getting a little tired, bathroom floor tiles need a deep clean with steam mop or better still replacing. Front door is badly marked and scratched, needs a paint. The cutlery needs to be replaced with a full matching set, more than 1 large coffee mug, a full set of drinks glasses also. Some of the pans need replacement.
Points to note, at this time of the year there is very little sun on the deck area, obviously no ones fault and for some this will be a plus.
Overall a comfortable apartment for a longer stay, 2 min walk to Coles and you are right in the heart of the centre of Port Douglas. Loads of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. The beach is 500m away an easy flat walk.
Value for money, it is not cheap, but I think overall considering this is Port Douglas it is reasonable value for money.

Not happy
Where to start ? We were supposed to have arrived around 5 :00 pm but because the shuttle was late picking us up at the airport and road works that held us up more we didn’t get to hotel til around 6:30 /7:00 pm . The driver dropped us off at the back of the hotel so we hadn’t a clue how to get to the reception to get our keys , only that a lady was walking towards us and she let us in with her key we would have been none the wiser . Now we are in the building and having dragged our bags down sooo many steps to try find reception we still couldn’t find it . Again bumping into some people we asked how to get to the reception they were not very informative and put us in the wrong direction , we finally found the reception to only find it was closed it closes at 5:pm . What hotel does that ??? We then didn’t know how to get our keys ??? Until another guest told us about the black phone , so I picked up the phone and a lady answered
After speaking to her for at least 10 min as she kept asking me to open a safe that was nowhere to be seen but she wouldn’t have it that the safe wasn’t there , she finally asked did we come in the back way which we did , and said we needed to go to the front of the hotel where the safe was and gave us a code to get the keys out , we had to virtually go around the block having to drag our bags and climb more steps if we had have had this information sent to us via email it would have made a huge difference . I wonder what happens if you lose your keys after 5 and can’t get in ???
Finally get to our room , door badly scratched , room smelt mouldy , furniture stained , bathroom very mouldy . Balcony furniture was stained and the floor was filthy inside and out . The only good thing this hotel has going for it is central to most things . I def will never book it again . 2 out of 10 and that is just for the convenience of it . Don’t be fooled by the pics they put up .

Disappointing
Great location, staff were fantastic and helpful but thats as far as it goes.
Room smelt mouldy and made our clothes smell, had to leave doors and fans on to circulate the air. Also made you cough once leaving the rooms coughing stopped. Room needs to be updated and carpet replaced. Pool water cold and 1 spa not working beach was warmer to swim in. If you have bad hips or knees there are lots of steps so when booking ask for a room that has lift access.
We will not be back.

Don't Stay at the Mantra Heritage Port Douglas
The only bright spot about the Mantra Heritage is the location, central to the main town. The biggest gripe I have is that this hotel does not service the rooms unless you have stayed 8 days, I think that is disgusting and explains why everything looks dirty and tired. You do not know about this until after you check in, and receive their instruction sheet. They need to really look at their model of business because it is really poor for a customer service operation. The Mantra Heritage is a disgrace to the ALL group, which I belong to. I will not book another Mantra. We're booked for 3 nights but left a day early even though we get no refund. This place is a very poor option for travellers that want somewhere central in Port Douglas. Having read the reviews I find that the hotel has for years said they use reviews to improve the guest experience, yet the same problems continue to pop up and nothing seems to be done. The room was filthy, I have taken pictures of the mould in the bathroom. The floor was sticky and dirty, and we were just horrified. The staff we saw did not want to know and avoided contact. I just cannot find anything positive to say about this hotel.

location was excellent! Shops and restaurants and entertainment maximum 5 minute walk.
-accommodation had comfy beds, good furnishings in apartment.
- the fridge was smelly and floors had sand or dust. Got dirty feet walking barefoot in apartment.
-pools area lovely but hotel staff told us one pool was heated to 28C. both pools including the spa were ice cold.
