Basic and comfortable

Comfortable cottage with lovely staff. Cottage wasn't as clean as expected. Pool area was basic with a few sun loungers with no cushion/mattress which made lying by the pool quite uncomfortable.
Beds and pillows were very comfortable though and cottage was spacious.
Would have appreciated some cleaning products such as sponge and washing up liquid.

Disappointing /unclean/ not worth it

The accomodation was old and dirty. The outdoor area was filthy. Beds uncomfortable and pillows had mould on them and out of date.The kitchen utensils dirty this was the worst stay our family has had. We go away to various places in nsw and qld around 6 times a year. We will definitely never book here again. On the plus side Anna Bay and Nelson Bay have great beaches and really good places to eat. Do yourself a favour and book accommodation elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback. I have reviewed our reservation records and at this stage, I have not been able to locate a confirmed stay under your name.
We are currently taking a closer look to ensure we have all the correct details. From our initial review, there appears to have been a reservation under this name that was later amended with a date change and subsequently cancelled through Booking.com, which would indicate there was no stay onsite.

Bugs on the pillows and hair on the blankets/beds

I don't normally leave reviews but I just had to. The standard of cleanliness when we arrived in our cabin was very poor. We found hair (not just one or two, kept finding more) and sand on the beds and blankets. One of the pillows had a cluster of (live) bugs on it. The air conditioner was filthy too.
Oh, and there was a long list of things you needed to do so as to not incur a cleaning fee, including taking out the trash yourself and folding the blankets and putting them in a box. Makes you wonder whether they're cleaned in between uses.
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 is that it wasn't too expensive and the actual cabin wasn't too bad. Although, it's about average priced if you go as a couple so the price doesn't justify the state of the place. The service we received at reception also was below average.

Great short break!

We had a great little holiday . The Retreat looks very nice, leafy and peaceful. So glad we could take my dog with us. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The dunes at the back are amazing! We will come back for another holiday soon.

Just what Iwe needed with our 2 hounds

We had a fantastic stay. Cabin was simple and tidy, it had everything we needed, lots of shade for our dogs and a big area for us to walk them on their leads.
The only issue worth complaining about in our cabin is the shower head, it has a small crack in it that squirts you in the eye when turning water on. Surprise!
