THE PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE.....

A visit to Stanley was a must for us as the weather on our previous was so stormy we couldn't chair lift up to the Nut (which was so worthwhile). We were travelling with friends & stayed for 2 nights in RoaringToms Apt. It was 'the best'. 2 lovely bedrooms each with own bathroom, 2 outdoor sitting areas to while away the afternoon sun, huge kitchen & lounge area etc etc. I meandered the winding path to the top of the beautiful back garden - so beautiful & the views were lovely. Recommend

Stylish accommodation in great location

The Ship Inn's location is perfect, metres away from the chairlift to the top of The Nut, a short walk to Hersey's restaurant for a delicious meal, a short walk in the other direction to the pub and a slight stroll further to the beach. It's also a short drive to Highfield House which is well worth a visit. Breakfast, which is left in the room daily, is delicious, healthy and different to the run of the mill, there's ample parking space, and a lounge to the side of the main building where you can sit in comfort and drink a complementary glass of port. The Cape Grim room, which we had requested, is comfortable with a great view over the sea, but without much space for luggage. We hadn't realised that this room is not in the main house so while the housekeeping staff were unfailingly friendly, there was no connection with the owners and it was a little like staying in a very fancy motel room. However that is our only negative point.

Such a beautiful place to stay in Stanley

We checked in to the Ship Inn Stanley on the 2nd May and immediately felt at home. Our suite was warm, beautifully decorated and welcoming. We were delighted with our choice of accommodation for our first 3 nights in Tasmania.
The Ship Inn is located directly at the bottom of the Nut, with a view of the harbour and near Hursey Seafoods, an excellent establishment, where we ate in house and also purchased takeaways.
The breakfast provided was lovely- muesli, stewed fruit and delicious fresh bread replenished daily.
We enjoyed checking out the history of the many historical buildings in Stanley, several of which were very close to the Ship Inn. Have your phone ready to scan the barcode on each one to hear the history of each building.
We were particularly delighted to see and hear penguins nearby. There is a viewing platform near the cemetery where many penguins could be seen after dark but we soon realised that there were penguins much closer to the Ship Inn.
The Ship Inn is very well equipped with a small gym, beautiful garden and a spectacular lounge area for enjoying a sip or two of the provided muscat, whilst enjoying the ambience, the view and / or a good book.
We loved staying at the Ship Inn and recommend it most highly. We can’t wait to return soon.

Disappointed no juice on third day.
Bed not made first day and towel not removed from bathroom floor.
Would love to have had a full length mirror
