Great Stay at Coogee Beach House
After visiting coogee for years friends and i decided to book coogee beach house for the 1st time for 3 nights. We were pleasantly suprised. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We utilised the included breakfast on 2 mornings, eating out on 3rd. We were suprised how quiet the other people staying at house were and super friendly. I am unsure if that is always the case but while we were there it was totally fine. This place is not for everyone.. If you are precious about having luxury... go pay 10 times the price down the road. The place could do with a paint but it was immaculately clean. The staff were always busy cleaning and tidying... more than i have ever seen in more expensive places elsewhere. It was actually very well equipped and it was an unexpected suprise to stay with such an interesting mix of other guests. Lovely stay. Thankyou staff. Looking forward to going back.

Our entire stay at Coogee Beach House was great. The hostel is very close to the beach and the bus stops. The hostel is cleaned daily, though it’s really hard to control if some of the other guests are not tidy and considerate.
My fiancé and I stayed in a shared room. The bed was comfortable. I would just suggest that the management separate guests who are purely tourists from those who are staying long-term to make the stay more comfortable. I’ve observed this in other hostels as well, when there are long-term guests, it feels like they take over the whole room as if they own the place. I understand that some are on working holiday visas, but there are guests who are on pure holiday and just visiting.
We also had a safety concern about the hostel. We noticed that the main door wasn’t being locked at night. We discovered that the woman we saw entering at night was homeless and had been seemingly entering the building without restriction for months. We don't know whether the night duty manager is aware of it. So what’s the point of the key the doors aren’t even locked? And we had to pay for $20 key deposit. Although, the hotel manager and the staff addressed this issue immediately. The night manager on duty maybe needs to improve in terms of safety and handling guests’ concerns at night.
Nevertheless, we commend the hostel manager, Daniel and for taking action and addressing our concerns. This is not just for us but for future guests as well, and for his business.

Not trustworthy
They canceled my reservation at the last moment, on the pretext that the credit card was not working. Which was false, I do not recommend this establishment. No communication and no way of resolving the situation, I think they are overbooking.

Undisclosed Age Limits
So, this hostel has an upper age limit of 45 in their dorms. Not sure how this is allowed without disclosing it during the booking process. I had booked for a 2 day visit next February - if it hadn't been for the fact that I asked a question in my booking (& got a reply regarding the age limit) I would not have known I'm too old until I turned up to check-in!
Non disclosure is a serious thing - I suggest they amend their websites to include this discriminatory policy they've implemented.
I've travelled all over the world and never encountered an 'upper' age limit in hostels anywhere but this one.

excellent location and super close to everything. I had a room facing the road so the street noise was fairly loud if you are a light sleeper
