Romantic Getaway

Stayed one night here with my partner and had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and we loved the free mini bar! Location was good for what we wanted to do in the city. Liked the added security of having the main front doors locked at night.
Room and bathroom amenities were good, noise level was almost zero (level 10), and the bed was very comfortable. There was a birthday gift (bottle of wine) left in the room from the hotel which was a nice touch.

I have communicated with management but have yet to receive a response so posting here for others. We arrived to find the hotel car park full and non caring reception staff. Our suite was poorly furnished and lacked the appointments you would expect at this level.The complimentary mini bar consisted of 2 soft drinks 2 waters and 2 juices woohoo ! Many better hotels to choose from for a weekend stay in Sydney town.

My main grievance was the inability to cancel due to sickness. I understand that the cancellation policy for the hotel expired at 5pm prior to the booking date, but my wife didn't become very sick until the morning, and she attended the doctor at 1045am. I rang the hotel direct at that time, not after a refund, just a credit to stay on another occasion. The person I spoke to was adamant that he could not assist, as their cancellation policy expired 5pm the day before. I told him I knew that, but requested leniency in view of my wife's sickness, even offering to email them a copy of her doctor's certificate. He told me to contact Hotels.com, which I did, and the agent tried to negotiate a credit with the hotel, also to no avail. Again, I was not seeking a refund, just a credit to use another time, but this was flatly refused. After being refused the refund, my wife decided to come with me, remaining in the room, so the $285 wasn't wasted, as we were supposed to go to dinner for a friend's birthday. When I checked in the process was very slow, I was left waiting while the person went away twice to check, I can only presume there were notes to say I had made enquiries about cancelling. When we entered the room, there was an unpleasant surprise in the toilet bowl, which I immediately reported to the front desk. They did come and clean the toilet and offered a bottle of wine as compensation and a later checkout, which was really the only positive experience I had at The Grace.

Very friendly and efficient Front Desk staff. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location that is walking distance to the light rail as well as many of the exciting places to see in Sydney.

Centrally located in Sydney. Clean room and helpful staff. Gym met our needs. Pack swimmers as there is a swimming pool. Breakfast accommodated for food intolerances.
