Definitely an Experience!
An experience! Room being in a cave underground was very quiet. Beds were comfortable. Main problem is that there are share bathrooms and they were a very long way from our room so not ideal when making a midnight visit!
One member of our family was uncomfortable staying underground and he was given a room above ground - no problem and no charge. Staff were great.
Meals - breakfast and dinner - were good.

A unique underground experience
Our experience was great. I am not sure if we would've had the same experience if the rooms were full. A lovely lounge area with a fire was perfect to end our evening. The room was comfy- probably not ideal for anyone who is claustrophobic ( not a complaint just an observation). Staff friendly. Great option if you are travelling in a group. Bathroom facilities are great in relation to shared facilities but a decent walk from some rooms. A great place to experience the underground town of Whitecliffs. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise from the roof, unfortunately missed the sunset

Fun and funky outback experience
A fun and funky place to experience in the NSW outback. The bar was great, the restaurant was reliable and the rooms were clean enough to be comfortable. We hadn't noticed when we booked that the bathroom facilities are shared, but they were clean and decent. We stayed two nights but could have been happy with one and move on.

A comfortable night underground
An interesting experience to stay underground. Unlike the underground motel we've stayed in at Coober Pedy, the walls are mostly lined and painted white, so brighter but not so beautiful. The price seemed a bit expensive for a room without an ensuite, but the included continental breakfast was excellent and exceeded expectations. Climbing the stairs up to the sunset viewing area was a highlight. Lots of historical photos and geological samples and information are a very interesting bonus.

OK, but could be better
The stay we had was OK but not exceptional.
The good - The rooms are nice and a real experience with the white washed solid rock walls. No issue with noise through these walls! The bed was comfy enough and had a good night's sleep. We were not too far from the shared bathrooms so no issue getting lost. The small museum was interesting and the viewing area up top good for sunset viewing.
The not so good - You may notice in some photos a big tin of bug spray as I think each bedroom and shared area had one and for good reason. This place seems to have a serious issue with mosquitoes! When I went for my morning shower the shared bathroom was full of them! There was no bug spray in the bathroom so had to nip back to my room for a tin as was impossible to wash in there as so many! I also spent the evening waiving them away in the shared areas. An argument here might be that this is the outback, there are bugs, but for a hotel I am not so sure there is an excuse for so many mossies!
At morning breakfast i went to get a coffee cup from the stack and the first 3 I tried were all dirty. The 4th attempt i seemed to find a clean one! The water cooler was empty / not topped up from the night before.
It's an experience staying here and staff we interacted with were friendly enough. But it good be better.
