Classic Austrian hotel

A charming Austrian hotel in Lovely mountain village. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very attentive. Breakfast buffet is ok but evening meals very good. Room was a good size and very comfy bed. Nice clean pool and sauna

Excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings.

Just returned from a week’s stay at this excellent hotel. Hard to find fault as we throughly enjoyed our stay. The Staff were efficient, professional and friendly especially in the reception and dining areas, a special word for Bruno, in the restaurant who was particularly helpful and professional. The daily menu, with three choices for main course was excellent, all well cooked and a very good choice. Breakfast as well was very good with the same wide selection of hot and cold dishes. We especially loved the swimming pool, which was clean and well maintained with plenty of umbrellas and loungers as we did enjoy beautiful hot weather and to cool off after a long walk was very refreshing. Our room had all the facilities you’d expect from a four star hotel with comfy beds and a good shower.
Flizmoos is a beautiful village in an amazing setting however it might be a bit quite for some people and the lift to the top of the mountain was a bit ‘random’ in its operation although it didn’t affect our stay.

Fantastic

We spent a few wonderful days in Filzmoos and at the Hotel Unterhof.
Very friendly, courteous and very child friendly staff. Rooms modern, spacious and very clean. Food wonderful and abundant. Well maintained complex and wellness area. Free parking is available. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back. Thank you

Very highly recommended hotel Unterhof - superb staff, delicious food, nice spotlessly clean room and building.

Unterhof is a superb hotel. Every member of staff was better than A1 - they really do everything right and are so courteous. We booked a Landgenuss room which is larger than standard and it was very roomy. All food was very nice, fresh ingredients cooked just right. Breakfast had no variety but it does not need any changes because everything that you could reasonably want was there and when it is as good as it was, you do not want anything different. Lovely bread and rolls. If you wanted fried egg or an omelette there is an extra charge which is a bit disappointing, but we did not need either - the supplied scrambled egg was delicious - also there are soft and hard boiled eggs every day. By default you get a flask of coffee on your table but we asked for tea and that was served instead. The 5 course dinner was equally delicious every night - you choose the main course from a meat, fish or vegetarian option at breakfast. A free afternoon snack is provided - this varies from cake to sausage and bagel, or pasta with bread etc. The whole hotel is kept spotless. No doubt that we will stay here again if we return to Filzmoos.
The only mistake that we made was to only book a week, thinking that there would not be much do do in a small town but we should have booked 10 or 14 nights. There are many walks accessible using the summer card supplied giving a daily (when operating - 4 times a week) return trip on the Papageno gondola , a daily (has to be prebooked but the local tourist office will do for you), a daily return trip on the Almi ( a tractor pulled bus mad from a converted chalet) and the Fidibus (local hikers bus). These all take you up the mountains from where you can do either short or long hikes to suit your preference. They all take you to a nice Alpine hut so you can use them to have a nice drink or meal in a great setting even if you did not want to walk far.

Fawlty towers

First time back after change of management.
If you would like to experience fawlty towers live, this is the hotel.
You can experience basil, sybil, polly, manuel and terry on a daily basis.
So much for the comparison.
The rooms make up for a lot.
Breakfast was always cold from the eggs over the bacon to the coffee.
For dinner there was pasta with st. jacobs fruits and octopus in reality a plate of pasta with 2 fruits and 3 octopuses the size of a 2 euro piece. The two ways of roe and venison was a piece of traffic jam with a square block of tough stew meat and very salty.
