Located right on the Danube Bicycle Trail in Emmersdorf, Gästehaus Egger offers direct views of Melk Abbey on the opposite bank of the Danube. Free WiFi is available, and a fitness room and infrared cabin can be used at a charge. Rooms feature views of Melk Abbey, a flat-screen TV with internet access, parquet floors, and a bathroom. Some have a terrace. Guests of the Egger Gästehaus can use a lockable bicycle storage room, and free private parking is available on site. A sandy beach on the river is directly across the street. The longest natural beach on the Danube is 500 metres away. It is 4 km to Melk and the abbey. Please inform Gästehaus Egger in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation. Pleasant Stay

We stayed four nights at Gästehaus Egger en route from Gmunden to Wien. The place is well kept, tidy and clean. The towels and sheets provided were clean as well. The place is located in a convenient location for exploring the other towns (Melk, Krems, Dürnstein, etc.), with a car, in Wachau. The host/owner was friendly as well and we'd good interactions with her during our stay. Overall a pleasant stay!

Away from the hustle and bustle

Quietly tucked away on the banks of the Danube, Haus Egger was a wonderful surprise. I only wish we could have stayed longer than the one night we were there. The rooms are modern and spacious, the beds extremely comfortable and the property well maintained and clean. Breakfast was outstanding, with the most perfectly boiled eggs I've ever had. The owner was amazing and went out of her way to make sure we could have an early breakfast before our departure.
There is a small fitness area in the common room, but the walking and cycling path is just across the road so rather venture out for the beautiful fresh air.
TV facilities were great and it's possible to log into Netflix.
Some of the rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms. They do however have separate bathrooms (not shared). One is adjacent and the other directly opposite.
The rooms are all upstairs, so the house is not wheelchair-friendly.
Tip: don't make the mistake we made... The dock across the road is not the right one for the Danube boat cruises. Head towards the town of Emmersdorf for the right docking station or drive to Melk. It is more than a 5km walk. Yes, we walked :D

Lovely

The hotel is very clean with good size rooms. The breakfast with a freshly laid egg was a great way to start the day. The lady that runs it is very helpful.
There is currently some construction on the river bank but they are moving fast so wouldn't expect them to be outside much longer, they are very quite so it didn't bother us though during our three day stay.

Very friendly owner, excellent location

The rooms vary in size quite a bit, we took the smallest room as the other rooms were taken except for one of the larger ones, but the bathroom was across the hall (still private) and we preferred an in room bathroom.
The room was small but nicely appointed and the bathroom was nice. The breakfast was very good with lots of variety and the owner is very friendly. The view is very nice and the price is excellent.
One note, do not expect to check in early. We got there at 10 to 3 and the owner arrived within 5 minutes. Check in is at 3. I believe if you arranged an earlier check in it could be accommodated but if you just show up early you will be waiting.

Fantastic B&B in a good Location for Cycling the Danube

We stayed here for one night whilst cycling along the Danube. Really nice rooms, very clean, nice location, right on the side of the Danube Cycle Path. Perfect for what we were doing and it was easy for us to cycle the 15minutes across into Melk for dinner, I would recommend Rathauskeller for food. May be slightly to far out from Melk for some people but worked great for us. The lady who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend staying here if you are cycling through on the Danube.
