Self Serve Modern Accommodations
Krems is an interesting city on the Danube and not as crowded as other places. Orange Wings is a unique and modern hotel, where you can check yourself in and out at any hour. The rooms are like staying at Ikea. Basic, comfortable, reasonable. Location on the edge of town. Very good for bikers and car trippers.

Terrible Hotel - is actually a Hostel!
Thanks to Mac Adventures, we discovered the worst hotel ever! Then we realised, this is not a three star hotel, not even a 2 star hotel - it’s more like a basic youth hostel.
While the room is clean, nevertheless it stunk of cigarette smoke, there are no curtains to block out the nightlights, the toilet and bathroom are very small and do not have independent light or fan switches … these just automatically go on-and-off ‘forever’ and keep you awake at night for extended periods of time (so don’t expect much sleep), the pillows are saggy as a dead rat (so don’t expect much sleep) there is only one power point available to use (unless you unplug the TV - which we couldn’t get to work!!), there is no kettle, tea or coffee, no mini fridge, the walls and floors are super thin (so much so, we could hear the toilet/bathroom fan from next door - so don’t expect much sleep).
Please note that ….the bed, floors and roof are super “creaky” (so don’t expect much sleep). The morning breaky is reasonable but even more basic, however at least the host/steward is extremely helpful, in whatever way she can.
Two good things about this non-luxurious hostel: (1) it’s across the road from an Italian pizza shop…. Excellent service! - but there are no other shops around except for various industry businesses - not even a cafe or milk-bar (it’s miles from anywhere) and (2) the shower actually works but the towels are so few and thin that you’ll wish there was a hair dryer ..,. but nope, there is not, so “tough luck”.
Overall, I do not recommend staying here unless you prefer a very basic hostel accommodation with minimal support and few amenities / things that are badly need by travelling professionals and sport fanatics.

A perfectly functional, modern hotel
This is one of those modern, ultra-functional, well-designed yet surprisingly comfortable hotels one sometimes finds in France. It is a couple of kilometres out of the city centre, and a bit hard to find. The rooms are big enough and comfortable enough, there is a separate WC and bathroom which is a nice touch, the wifi works well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Just two points of criticism: in both the WC and the bathroom, the lights are controlled by a sensor, which can be hugely irritating, as they are prone to turn off in the middle of your shower or toilet, and then you need to jump up and down a bit to get them going again… And, the flat-screen TV is very small by todays standards, hardly bigger than a laptop screen – this certainly should be changed. The cost / value ratio is not great, as this style of budget hotel should offer more competitive prices. Otherwise, a good stay!

NO Air condition!! Dont stay here during summer!
The hotels site is a bit misleading its is basically a metall box made of container rooms. If you know it in advance its ok but we recognized it upon arrival. In the rooms in the summer heat you have at least 40 degrees!! No windows to open, you are afraid to open the door as its in the edge of an industrial area, so I could not sleep at night at all! If you are looking for a one night accommodation on the road its a clean place to sleep but in the summer avoid it completely! Very Far from city centre, there is a nice gasthof nearby but in the hotel you have only a drink automat nothing else. They have a breakfast hall, where the breakfast was ok but because of the heat the food was melting.

Crazy Fun Place
Ok so we were going to see a Vernissage in Krems in the evening and since we love an hour away we decided to spend the night. The hotel looks somewhat like a hostel and the rooms facing the front has a fencing so it kind of looks like a cage. Rooms arw timy and the double bed is more a songle and a bit extra. Breakfast buffet is ok.
