We stayed there with our toddler. The staff was exceptional friendly. The breakfast and café have been great.
Because the hotel is located in the centre of the village, the view is OK. However, the location is nearby all restaurants, bike shops and the gondola.

21,80 Euro for 2 glasses of wine!!!
We were too early for the Italian restaurant that is in this hotel and decided to have a drink in the bar before we went for something to eat in the restaurant. 2 glasses of wine for 21,80 euros???!!! That's how expensive we didn't drink wine anywhere during our holiday in the region. Do they feel superior and five-star level? The dinner in the Italian restaurant we did not do anymore and went elsewhere to eat where we were not cheated.

Between pleasure and anger: Our stay at the Hotel Bären
Breakfast and cafes are outstanding – the hotel alone deserved six stars. The cakes are also a real highlight, prepared with a lot of love. The service, especially in the cafe area, is friendly and attentive.
However, what we are critical of is the price trend: From about 140 € (2022) to 259 € (2024) – an 85% increase in just two years. We find that inappropriate.
Also problematic: Our written room request was promised to us by telephone twice – the room was then not available on site. Despite multiple reinsurance, we did not feel taken seriously in this regard.
The location directly on the road also leads to significant traffic noise – this can be very annoying when the window is open, especially since the hotel does not have air conditioning.
Conclusion: Culinary top, but in price-performance and organization with significant need for improvement. Unfortunately, despite the many positive aspects, we only award two stars.

Die Preise in der Hotellerie sind von 2022 auf 2025 tatsächlich deutlich höher - aufgrund der bekannten Probleme wie stark gestiegene Kosten bei Personal, Energie und Wareneinkauf. Wie beschrieben, betrifft dies nicht nur unsere Unterkunft und wir liegen im Preis-Leistungs-Vergleich mit anderen Hotels sicher sehr gut. Unsere allgemeine Gästestruktur hat sich nicht verändert - während Ihres Aufenthaltes fand im Nachbarort ein Klassikfestival statt, das erfahrungsgemäß ein älteres Publikum anspricht. Wir schätzen die wunderbare Mischung unserer Gäste von kleinen Kindern bis zu älteren Personen und freuen uns alle im Bären willkommen zu heißen.

All around nice days at Hotel Büren Mellau with great breakfast and very friendly staff
Very nice and cozy room. Nice terrace and outdoor area. Friendly and helpful staff. Good offers and facilities for holidays with children. The hotel is very central and much can be reached in a few steps.

My hotel! If you go to Mellau then only go to the Bären!
The breakfast is excellent, lots of healthy dishes, I have never seen a breakfast like this in any other hotel. The service is very nice, reception is also very nice. The rooms are clean. I have been here three times. I have never been disappointed. I will come again.
