Top hotel with great facilities and great cuisine.
Very nice hotel with friendly staff and a top kitchen. You can completely relax here with various massages and swimming pools.

Wellness area outstanding, great hotel
Great wellness hotel. Family run, staff very friendly and competent. The wellness area is a show! It is so beautiful there, so versatile, diverse saunas, great pools, magnificent relaxation areas. Great also that there is the free Grander water, deliciously bottled with various additions such as lemon, orange or cucumber slices. And for in between a few healthy nuts / dried fruits to snort or a tea. All lovingly decorated. All meals absolutely delicious, a rich selection, high level! Salad, starters and ice cream from the buffet. The surroundings wonderful, you look in all around the mountains. The Achensee, hiking trails and mountain railways in the immediate vicinity. We felt very comfortable, enjoyed the spa area and the super great room very much. We loved it sensationally well and we will definitely come back.

Too bad – the potential would definitely be there
We were really looking forward to our wellness getaway at the Hotel Kristall. The pictures beforehand were promising, our expectations correspondingly high. Unfortunately, our stay started immediately with a huge disappointment – and this has greatly influenced our overall mood.
We arrived three hours and had booked only one night (cuddle suite, around CHF 550.– per night). Shortly after check-in, we were informed that our massage appointment, reserved long in advance, could not take place because one person had failed. We had booked a massage for two people – with two therapists. We were told one person was sick. Nevertheless, both massages were cancelled without replacement.
We couldn't understand that. If a person fails, at least treatment should be possible – or serious attempts could have been made to find a solution. Especially for guests with only one night and a long journey, one should strive to make the central part of the stay possible.
As an alternative, we were offered an appointment at 3:30 p.m. on the day of departure – although we had to check out at 11:00 a.m. and had three hours left to drive home. That was not a realistic solution for us. We went to the reception again afterwards and asked calmly if you could exchange an appointment, for example with guests who are in the house for several days. The answer was immediately negative: They had already tried everything, nothing was possible. For us, this didn't feel like a real willingness to solve.
This moment has soured our mood massively. We came to relax – instead we didn’t feel taken seriously. We expect more flexibility and commitment for this price range.
Another point that bothered us a lot was the lack of price transparency. Neither at dinner nor with additional wellness treatments were prices clearly visible in advance. A week before arrival we received an email in which you could book treatments such as massages or facials – but without any price indications on the booking page. Prices were also not clearly visible on the spot. For us, this is incomprehensible. Regardless of the room rate, we expect transparency in services. It's not about whether you can afford it, it's about the principle. Prices should be communicated openly.
On the positive side, we would like to emphasize the cleanliness throughout the hotel – everything was very well maintained. The sauna area and the relaxation rooms we liked. The fact that you could move freely in the hotel in your bathrobe, even at the bar, was pleasant. The staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful.
Culinarily, our impression was mixed. The appetizer was served cool, mostly jelly and was not explained. The sweet potato cappuccino soup was very watery. My beef fillet was excellent in quality, but the side dishes seemed very potato-flavored. The Wiener Schnitzel was good, but the cheese spetzle was hardly edible, as they were cream-based and contained very hard onions. The service staff responded friendly and offered alternatives. The fruit plate at dessert was fresh, other components no longer worked optimally.
The wellness area was clean and beautifully designed, but the water temperature for a wellness hotel was clearly too cool (about 28 °C) in our view. Also the hot tub was small and not as warm as expected. For us, a pleasant warmth is essential for recreation.
