Like staying in a Family home. Charming but not fancy.

Not fancy but clean and well kept and exactly what we were looking for in a “European family” vacation place that does not scream “American tourist” and yet its quite friendly and open to Americans nonetheless
This is where young or old couples driving around Europe will stay and be pleased to enjoy the small family run Inn. You may meet someone from UK or just a fellow Austrian traveler.
According to the proprietor it’s a family owned place (mother and son run it now) and they do most everything themselves including a wonderful “cold style” breakfast in a clean and charming sitting area.
We had a sizable suite room with a small kitchen area with sink and fridge and small stove (we did not cook but it’s fully stocked kitchen). The living room functions as a second bedroom and the primary bedroom was separated by a sliding door and two stairs which made it quite nice for our family.
The bathroom is quite small but a separate shower “room” inside our suite but across the hall from the toilet and sink is sizeable and modern.
My only advice is to update the towels (they are very thin) which would provide a more luxurious feeling overall.
The inside does not have much area for relaxing in the evening and the common areas seems to be from 1980s with no particular kind of decorations. Yet they provide a nice honor refrigerator downstairs full of local drinks. You just write down your name if you take one. Charming.
The whole thing reminded me of staying with a middle class Austrian family in their modest but well kept home. (Which I have done in the past)

Excellent Stay

We stayed in a large double bedroom with balcony to the side of the property. The hotel is near the centre of St Gilgen and an 8 min walk from/to the bus stop (to Salzburg or Fuschl, Mondsee). The room and bathroom was very clean and had a kettle and fridge. The breakfast choice was excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The hotel owners were very helpful and welcoming. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Very enjoyable stay

We were travelling as a family of four and stayed in the two bed self catering apartment.
The apartment was well equipped and spotlessly clean.
We were given a very warm welcome from the family owners. They also gave my daughter a small birthday cake on the morning of her 13th birthday which was a lovely surprise.
It is in a good location, in easy walking distance of the lake, cable car, bus stop and small supermarket.

Nice guesthouse near the center

Just a few steps from the main square. The boss is extremely friendly.
The rooms are large and cozy. Breakfast is excellent.
Parking spaces are also available.
All in all a recommendation.

Great family run hotel

Great place to stay. Family run by a great family. They are very helpful. Very simple rooms with really nice beds. Great breakfast. Highly recommend staying here in the cute town of St Gilgen. Has easy accessible parking would here stay again!
