Blue Monkey gets it right and elevates the hotel experience in Barbados
I am a solo business traveler, and what matters most on arrival is simple: everything is already handled so I can switch off immediately.
That’s exactly what Blue Monkey delivered.
Before arrival, the concierge sent a detailed questionnaire about my preferences, and it genuinely carried through to the experience. Airport arrival was seamless: fast track waiting, a professional team, and a Land Rover ready outside. Even the in-car music matched what I had requested. I felt like a celebrity!
On arrival, I was greeted by name, given a cold towel, and taken straight to my suite (upgraded - thank you!). From there, everything just worked. The team helped arrange my evening at Amara, Cropover plans, local reservations.. you name it! And at the beach club my chair was already set up with staff who knew exactly who I was.
That’s the advantage of a smaller luxury property: personal service without feeling forced. I’ve also been coming to the island for 20 years.
The suite is excellent. It has the comfort and finish of a Four Seasons but still feels private. The workspace is especially well thought out for business travel, with easy access to outlets and clean cable management. Everything is exactly where you need it.
The bathroom is equally strong. Great water pressure, quality bath products, a heated bidet toilet, and all the essentials you often forget. It’s clearly designed by people who understand how guests actually use a room.
Bed is so comfortable. Everything is remote controlled (including the curtains). Lighting can be dimmed.
Small touches also stand out: the beach bag, ready-to-use Lavazza coffee setup, stocked glassware etc.
The only small improvement I’d suggest is adding an iron and ironing board in the room for business travelers… but all I had to do was ask, and the rationale is that they would help send out the linen for pressing. LOVE THAT!
Overall, Blue Monkey gets the fundamentals right: you arrive, everything is handled, and you can immediately relax. I have already booked my next trip… but part of me wants this to be the best kept secret on the island so it remains affordable!

Wow. Just Wow. Barbados at Its Absolute Best.
From check-in to check-out, this hotel delivered an experience that was nothing short of exceptional.
We were welcomed by staff who were not only warm and pleasant but genuinely knowledgeable- they took the time to walk us through the hotel and its amenities, setting the tone for everything that followed. First impressions matter, and this one was flawless.
The room left us speechless. The finishes, the layout, the attention to detail- clean, pristine, and beautifully considered in every way.
The on- property restaurant AMARA is a destination in its own right. Stunning in design and equally impressive on the plate- the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared and lots of options for me as pescatarian. And the bar? Quite simply the most stunning we have encountered in Barbados- and we have explored a few over the years. It has to be seen to be believed.
The beach club became our daily ritual, and for good reason. Positioned on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the island, with staff who matched the warmth of the setting, and food and drinks that were nothing short of spectacular.
What truly elevated this stay, however, were the little things. Staff who remembered our names. Who recalled our previous orders. Who greeted us every single time with a genuine smile. That level of personalized hospitality is rare, and it did not go unnoticed.
As a creative, and some one who worked in real estate, I was moved by the design aesthetic throughout- the doors, the light fixtures, the shelving, the considered details in every corner. Someone with extraordinary vision brought this space to life, and it shows.
We will absolutely be back. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Best restaurant in barbados
Table of 5 in Amara Restaurant, a new lebanese restaurant only open a week situated in the green monkey hotel in paynes bay.
What can I say?
Well being 1/4 lebanese and a chef for 35 years, i can truly say its the best lebanese restaurant I have ever been to. I live in Europe and have eaten in some of the top lebanese restaurant there, and i can honestly say, none come close to Amara. From the choices to the service and quality, 5 stars are simply not enough. The chef came out at the end of the meal to check on us, i just can't say enough, other than yhe other local restaurants have to step up.
Well done to the whole team, you deserve all the success you get
