We were given a ground-floor room with a window facing a narrow shaft, providing very little daylight and almost no fresh air. The room also had a strong sewage smell. When I reported this to the reception, we were told nothing could be done that evening, even though it was only around 6:30 p.m. We therefore had no choice but to stay in the room and wait until the next day.
As we were staying for four nights, we expected to be offered another room, but unfortunately we felt the staff were not very helpful or welcoming. They tried to reduce the smell, but without much effect, and we stayed in the same room throughout our visit.
The room was also not cleaned during our four-night stay. Towels were not changed, rubbish was not emptied, and I had to ask twice before receiving more toilet paper.
If it had been financially possible, we would have changed hotels. The most disappointing part was feeling that we did not receive the standard we had paid for. Perhaps other rooms are better, and other guests may have a different experience, but for us this was a very disappointing stay.
Thankfully, Bruges is a beautiful city, and the good weather allowed us to spend most of our time outside.

The sheets and towels were very soft and smelled very nice!
