Weekend in the East Cantons

We stayed in the holiday home. A great environment and quiet. The holiday home "the old sawmill" is equipped with every comfort and can accommodate a large group. Highly recommended to go out with friends or family in the East Cantons.

Charming B&B in the Ardennes

We stayed here for 4 wonderful nights. The rooms were wonderfully cozy and quiet. The beds were very comfortable! The living room had such a homey feeling. Katy and Mathias were fantastic hosts and we felt very pampered. Breakfast was always great. We also loved the quiet and remote location in the forest but close proximity to so much to visit. We will return and stay here again.

Very good B&B

Located on the 675 road between Poteau and Sankt Vith, however street address seemingly relates to Sankt-Vith, so adjust the navigator accordingly (it cant find Poteau at all) or have a good look at Google Maps
Very cozy common living room with nice wifi reception, and not so good in the rooms. Rooms are quite fine, with country style and complete silence of the forest.
Some goats and 2 friendly dogs, good freakfast and very pleasant host - Matias.
No food for dinner, so plan a meal elsewhere, however drinks are available

Slightly disappointing

We were a bit disappointed in this B&B. There was nothing wrong, per se, but nothing special, either. I was charmed by Schlommefurth’s web page which featured a picture of a welcoming Katy and Matthias. Our first disappointment was that Katy was not there, but away on business. Our second disappointment was learning that the home cooked dinner we had requested was not being prepared. In a confirmation email sent to Matthias a few weeks earlier, I had “re-confirmed” dinner for that night. Matthias had thought we no longer wanted dinner. Third disappointment was that we were unable to get any wifi reception (although they say they do have wifi). Our room was nice enough and clean enough, but there was a faint musty smell which was masked with scents. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Matthias was quite nice and tried his best to be hospitable. All in all, this was a bit of a disappointment. Sadly (because I feel Matthias is quite a nice man), I doubt we would return.

A warm and homey B&B, professionally run

My 12 year daughter and I chose this B&B sight unseen as a base when we went to the Belgian Grand Prix motor race at the Spa racetrack. We were very impressed with the hospitable welcome (we arrived late on a Friday night) and clean, neat, home-like ambience. The stone house was orignally a sawmill and has been charmingly converted by Mathias and Katy into a warm and personal bed and breakfast. Their background in the hotel business shows through in the professionalism and attention to detail. Everything works well and there is no substitute for being the guests of people who know how to run a top hotel. It is a step above the vast majority of B&Bs we have visited.
The location is rustic, on the high plain of the Ardennes with good hiking, hunting and mountain biking nearby. For our purposes the location was ideal to get to the racetrack. By coming from the south to Spa we avoided much of the traffic jams. If you plan to take advantage of this be sure you have a good map! We would have liked to have spent more time exploring the location, especially because my daughter would have loved to play more with the kittens and dogs that Katy and Mathias keep as pets. Highly recommended. My only improvement would be to have clearer directions, so be sure to phone ahead.
