Good location and practical but....

The welcome was very good, I checked in on site. The elevator is narrow but the stairs are wide, covered with carpets like all the corridors. The view is superb and the location of the hotel is very good. Commercial streets and restaurants.
For breakfast, it's passable so the second day I preferred to go out for lunch.
When I visited the hotel was quite empty and I paid 72eur + a tax of I don't know what (stay?)

Proper reception employee, but shameful hotel policy.

Handicap, run. Shower's not accessible.
Booked via booking, 1 x on site no key for the room and impossible to access the shower because of my sister's disability. So we had to give up the room, neither booking nor the hotel would refund. On 557€, we received 24€.... Shame

I lost my booking and my money

I was on a business trip to Brussels and needed to stay in this particular area of the town, so I booked online a room at hotel Derby Merode because it was the only place available in the area, actually it was quite expensive if you consider the poor quality of the place (at least the parts of it that I got to see). When I reached the place late evening the day before my meeting, the receptionist (by the name Mag Nlandu) told me that my room was out of service due to a technical issue and it was the last one available, so there was no place for me at the hotel. The only alternative that he offered me was a room at an associated hotel in a different area of the town that did not suit my needs. I explained him that the proposed solution was not adequate due to the location, so I declined the offer and requested a refund (the booking was prepaid). He replied that, since the booking had been done through a digital travel platform (eDreams), I had to address the request to them. I asked him to provide me a written statement about the issue and he said he would send it to my email, but he never did. Being so late hours, I struggled to find another place to stay at, but finally succeeded. The following day right after my work schedule I registered a refund request at eDreams website and, after several days and several phone calls with customer care, my request was rejected because, according to eDreams, the hotel alleged they had offered me several (false!!) alternative places and I had declined "them all". I explained that I had been offered a single alternative and that, regardless of the number, I was not obliged to accept a room at a different location which was not suitable for the purpose of my trip. But it was useless, I lost 200 plus euros. Not to mention the time and effort spent in finding another place to stay, filing the claim and repeatedly speaking o the phone with eDreams customer care with no result.
For obvious reasons, I will never ever again book at this place.

An absolute disappointment. The web page is misleading

An absolute disgrace to be categorised as a hotel. The room was a dingy attick. The shower dripped a few drops water and the lift was of minimum space to accommodate 2 persons. If this is European standard of categorizing a hotel its laughable. In Africa or Asia this will be minus one star standard.Ydt the price was exorbitant.
