Zen By The Sea = coming home to the coast
We stayed three nights at Hotel Zen Aan Zee and had a fantastic time. The room was cozy and comfortable, with a lovely shower and bathtub, and a beautifully finished bathroom.At night it was mouse quiet — no noise, no disturbing noises — thanks to the quiet street in which the hotel is located. Yet you are only a few steps from the beach and the atmospheric shopping streets. All around you you can enjoy the beautiful Ostend architecture, which warms the heart even on a grey day.
What really made this stay special are the owners. Exceptionally warm, friendly people who give their guests a sense of home. Breakfast was a feast every morning: fresh fruit salad, hot croissants, cold cuts and cheese, yogurt, fresh orange juice, very tasty hot drinks — and an egg of your choice was prepared. Always with a smile and the question if we wished for anything else. Their positive energy gives you a wonderful start to the day.
We also got fine tips for nearby and even discounts at nearby restaurants. Our luggage was helped with pleasure and we were allowed to leave it for free after checking out. Everything went smoothly and with sincere Welcoming.
As a loved-up couple, we have felt very much at home — as if we had our own cosy apartment by the sea. Even in stormy weather this was a super successful multi-day.
We recommend Hotel Zen Aan Zee with all our heart. Definitely worth repeating. Such hot spots are worth gold — and deserve to be fully booked even in low season.

Not worth repeating
Odor nuisance in the hallway. Unfresh bed linen and bath linen. Hard to access. Does not mention how many floors. No stable luggage are just next to the unsavory toilet downstairs. Far too late breakfast (between 9 and 10am), nothing is ready for breakfast. Unsavory charcuterie. There is no one present in the building before and after. Communication through notes hanging on your door.

Dit betreft een review van een gast uit Schriek en/of iemand uit Lier, waar ze samen mee was. Rolgordijn in de kamer heeft een van jullie haast kapot gerold, heel het touw zat 20 keer rondgedraaid bovenin en het gordijn was volledig verkreukeld. Het toilet beneden heeft een van jullie heel vies achtergelaten. Jullie wisten niet eens dat een koelkast niet dicht gaat als er teveel in gezet wordt. Met een zuur gezicht zat die persoon uit Lier aan de ontbijttafel, en ze wilde liever betalen voor de bagage in het station ipv gratis achter te laten bij ons. Oh wat stonk toch alles bij ons en omdat 99,99 % van de gasten ons ontbijt super vinden dat vooral ook nog even flink afkraken. Had maar iets gezegd toen jullie binnen kwamen, dan hadden we met veel plezier je reservering meteen terugbetaald. Zulk volk zoals jullie hoeven we niet, blijf weg aub! Je bent bij booking uiteraard gerapporteerd als slechte gast. "Niet voor herhaling vatbaar" alsof wij jullie ook maar terug zouden willen zien, wat een grap!

Had a very nice stay! Surprised by the breakfast which was delicious. Top owners!!
Worth repeating !! Visited Kursaal Oostende and there was no train back home, so we spent the night here.

Very nice b&b
Very friendly and welcoming owners. Clean room. Very big bathroom! (Shower and bath tub!) nice location: close to beach, shops, restaurants and railway station. Good breakfast, including: bread, bread rolls, warm pastries, jam/cheese/meat, fruit, orange juice or coffee, eggs, yoghurt. Only downside: no airconditioning.

Ideale ligging, dicht bij winkelstraat en strand, maar toch rustig.. Lekker, maar simpel ontbijt. Zeer vriendelijke uitbaters, alles met een persoonlijke touch. Goed bed, ruime kamer en zeer ruime badkamer. Proper en alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt.
