Friendly and green
A very warm welcome and personalised service, our hosts took good care of us and were very friendly. This is not the private, impersonal experience you'd get in a big hotel but more like staying with friends.
They took the time to explain some of the rules regarding use of water and lighting which might seem excessive when you're used to standard hotels, but it's all part of their sustainable, organic, eco-friendly approach, which is fair enough. Unlike some places which claim, in a very superficial way, to be green, this place really is, from the bedding and furnishings to the food and the energy usage.
The room is spacious, bright and comfortable, and we slept well. It's in a quiet little are surrounded by fields and farmland, but a convenient 15-minute walk from one of the best restaurants in the world.
The breakfast eaten with our hosts in their own dining room was very varied, tasty and filling, and was a lovely way to end our stay. Recommended.

unpleasant service
We visited this B and B during August 2015. We were booked to stay 5 nights, but decided to depart on day 2 after what turned out to be a disappointing and eerie experience.
Here are some facts: a very nice and comfortable king size bed; nice farm-like gardens being roamed by about 20 cute chicken and roosters; well located close to highways, Brugge, the coast, and to the famous three-starred restaurant 100m away; very poor wifi, and/or wifi that cannot be repaired by owners; unpleasant and invasive abundance of rules/regulations posted on several walls, or communicated orally (e.g. shoes inside are not allowed because the outdoor grounds are covered with chicken excrements – or, cannot leave light in bathroom on when unused – or, need to watch heating carefully); breakfast served and consumed together with the owners (little privacy here) in a room under the watchful eyes of five cats (one of which is ill) and a dog; the guest room itself is a detached barn-like structure, walls consisting of construction hardwood, and plain floor coverings; curtains that cannot be entirely closed except with clothespins provided; breakfast promoted as ‘bio’ but lacking freshness/taste and showing signs of re-use.
Our impression: we felt that the “friendly service and green, bio-sustainability” thoroughly promoted by the owners is essentially a façade. Yes, we happened to be dissatisfied customers when by 11am of our second day, internet was still not working (after bringing it to their attention the evening before) and could not be fixed in the short-term (perhaps by 2pm … it was suggested). Since we happen to be critically dependent on e-business we made the reasonable decision to depart after only one night of the booked five nights. The offer was made by the owners that we could use space in their own private cat-roamed quarters but we courteously declined this (to us) unappealing proposal. As a result, the owners suddenly changed their tune. They felt somehow threatened by our decision to leave, and they gradually started resorting to unprofessional and disrespectful language. This unexpected development was supposedly motivated by their intention to justify the fact that we were under no circumstances entitled to receive a full or a partial refund of the remaining 4 nights (the payment was made upon arrival in cash for 5 days). This fear must have prompted them to launch into a very uncomfortable tirade against “customers like us”. We were, among other things, told that the B and B does not really cater to business travelers (“we should stay in a hotel next time”), that their “other” clients come there to relax and don’t come there to work or use internet (is this the 21st century?), that they thought we arrived too late (we arrived at 9:30pm instead of the announced 8pm), that we were difficult customers.
When the dust settled, the end result was (1) that they were upset beyond measure – or at least they acted like it, (2) that we were shocked by this unexpected turn of events (a customer should have the freedom to decide without being insulted), (3) that they hung on to the full 5-day rent for a one-night stay (perhaps a refund of half the total rent would have showed some grace in a case like this), (4) that we were very pleased to have made the right decision to leave the premises.
In short, a wave of greed sadly spilled over the standard of professional service and genuine respect that any paying customer is entitled to. Fortunately such an event appears to be an exception in the B and B industry in this otherwise hospitable region of Flanders.

something special
We went in december 2013 in this lovely place.
Till the first moment we feel at home.
Ann and Pat, are special.you can fell how much love they give to their guest, and in everything they do.the place is lovely, 15min from Bruges, but look like in a deep coutriside, ,peace full whith beautifull garden, everything organic.
The room is very big, full of optional, radio, books, tv,natural and supe bed, pillows and everything you can ask for a romantic and conformable weekend.
Sharing the breakfast is a moment to talk together, we really enjoy it!
Amigo is a lovely dog quiet and friendly!
Is a place where you go to give attention and care to your soul and your body.

Oase van rust..
... zeer rustig plekje vlakbij Hertog Jan en de Herborist, ideale uitvalsbasis dus voor een culinair uitstapje, op7 km van centrum Brugge en half uurtje van de kust (Cadzand, de Haan, Blankenberge). Hartelijke ontvangst, heerlijk bio-ontbijt met brede waaier aan beleg en diverse soorten brood, lekker sapje, vers fruit, yoghurt enz. Kortom een aanrader !

Even weg van de drukte
Als je naar de Koornemoezen gaat, ben je op zoek naar rust, eventueel aan te vullen met een rustig bezoek aan Brugge en omgeving. De omgeving is nog erg landelijk voor het geïndustrialiseerde Vlaanderen, de accommodatie is top en de ontvangst hartelijk. De B&B claimt biologisch te zijn en hij is dat ook, maar dat betekent dat je ervoor moet openstaan. Zakenlui die jachtig zijn en altijd online moeten zijn, zoeken misschien best andere oorden op. Hier kom je voor de kalmte, de rust en de warme ontvangst. Gourmets kunnen (mits financiën geen probleem zijn) zich ook laten verwennen in een van de beste restaurants van het land (Hertog Jan) op wandelafstand. Heerlijk
