A unique place in a unique place
Disclaimer: This review should have been posted in regard to a stay in June 2015 but attempts to add Pousada Austria to TripAdvisor were unsuccessful. Now that it has been added to the site we are going to review it as we wanted last year.
Quick facts:
Pros: Relaxing setting, friendly staff, interesting variety of rooms, reasonable prices
Cons: Read the review- likely things common to all lodging in the area
There are pousadas on the main road much closer to the Casa so if you want to be close to it, pick one of those. This is a few blocks away meaning there will be a walk to the Casa but if you want a quiet place away from the crowds, Pousada Austria is a nice choice.
The ownership and staff is great- we never have a hard time booking a room (we have been here a total of three times). The prices are very reasonable- very much in line with other pousadas in town. As it is smaller than others, there are no meals served- instead there is an agreement with an adjacent pousada and you pay for the meals you eat based on the honor system.
Instead of a large building, there are a few cabins spread about a grassy field that overlooks the valley- a nice setting for relaxing. We usually stay in a cabin with a porch that features a small bedroom area and a large bathroom/shower but this time we upgraded to a new building on the edge of the property with a glass wall facing the valley- this room had a larger living area (although not by much) and a much smaller bathroom. Was the trade-off worth it? We weren't sure. Like most rooms on the property, it featured a hammock- always a plus.
There are few amenities in the rooms. There is a main building in the center of the property with an outdoor, covered kitchen area- here you can cook meals if you want or put stuff in the fridge. There is also a washer and dryer but you have to pay the maid by the item for her to wash your clothes. You can't do this on your own so "doing laundry" can get expensive.
The rooms don't feature TVs (this may or may not be a problem for you). They also don't feature air conditioning or much in the way of hot water, which we imagine is common to all pousadas but an inconvenience nonetheless. There is wi-fi but service is very spotty if you're not in the kitchen area.
I don't see us staying anywhere else next time we're in Abadiania and if you want something unique and charming, you'd be wise to look into this if you're traveling to the area.

Lugar Magico
A Pousada Austria é uma uma pousada super aconchegante, conta com chalés de madeira, cozinha comunitaria, uma area verde e uma maravilhosa vista para o nascer do sol todos os dias. Esta localizada perto da Casa de Dom Inacio. Fiquei hospedada la 1 mes e meio e a energia do lugar é incrivel. O preço e acessivel e para quem for ficar um mês ou mais fica em media de 1200 reais mensais.

Eu não queria sair de lá!
Fiz uma excelente escolha inda para lá!! Lugar lindo com o nascer do sol maravilhoso!! Quarto excelente, com uma cama queen comfortavel. Lugar cultural, pois a maioria dos hóspedes é extrangeiro, logo a troca de experiências é certa. O Franz, é excelente pessoa e extremamente atencioso!!
