Extremely Disappointing Stay—We Left Before the First Night
I travel frequently and stay in hotels across all price ranges, from budget accommodations to luxury properties. This is the first hotel review I have ever written because I have never been as disappointed as I was with Hotel Villa Mayor Charme Fortaleza.
The information and photos available online do not accurately represent the property we experienced. We paid a rate comparable to a five-star hotel in Fortaleza, but what we found was nowhere near the quality or standard we expected for the price we paid.
The rooms were extremely dated, with worn-out furniture of very poor quality. The cleanliness was unacceptable. There were stains on the walls throughout the rooms, and the overall condition made the hotel feel neglected.
I am highly allergic to mold and dust, and within minutes of entering the room my eyes began to itch. We had booked two rooms, and the second room also had visible mold and stains on the walls. It was immediately clear that this was not an isolated issue.
We specifically chose this hotel over a larger hotel chain because the photos and descriptions suggested a charming boutique property. Unfortunately, the reality was completely different.
We had booked a 14-night stay but were unable to spend even a single night there. The hotel showed us other available rooms, but they were in essentially the same condition. We were told that some rooms are being renovated, but despite the significant difference in quality, we were not offered one of the upgraded rooms. We had no choice but to leave and find another hotel. We are now requesting a full refund because the accommodations we were provided did not match the quality, condition, or expectations created by the hotel’s online listing.
I also struggle to understand how this hotel has received so many outstanding reviews. Based on what we saw, my impression is that many of those reviews may have come from guests who stayed in the renovated rooms rather than the older ones. If that is the case, it creates a very inconsistent guest experience, and prospective guests should know that not all rooms appear to be of the same standard.
Another aspect that was misleading was the pool area. The photos make it look like a spacious, charming courtyard with a relaxing restaurant surrounding the pool. In reality, the amenity area is quite small for a hotel of this size. When we visited, it was crowded and difficult to find space to relax or enjoy the facilities, making it far less appealing than the photos suggest.
This experience caused significant inconvenience, additional expense, and a very disappointing start to our vacation. I hope the hotel either updates its online photos to accurately reflect the rooms guests are likely to receive or completes the renovations before charging premium rates. As it stands today, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Careful employees
The accommodation was wonderful.
The receptionists Davi and Douglas were very attentive. We arrived on a Sunday with a date error in the accommodation and they managed to resolve with the booking to not pay cancellation fee, in addition to obtaining a new accommodation with agility.

I always come back - it's fantastic!
The Hotel Villa Mayor is a separate show every time I go to Fortaleza: incredibly cozy, comfortable and inspiring. Internally, it's a show! From the outside, simply everything we need to live wonderful days in Fortaleza a few minutes away - the edge of Iracema beach a hundred meters away, with a runway and the irresistible Beira Mar fair, in addition to the range of gastronomic options and the engaging structure available that goes to the Metropolitan Cathedral. The Hotel Villa Mayor is simply FAN-TÁS-TI-COOOO!!!

Great small hotel!
We stayed here for one month. We were joined by my sister for most of that time. I have been traveling most of my adult life and have stayed in many hotels around the world. I can highly recommend this hotel as one of the best. It is a modest hotel that caters to couples, singles and families. Very pleasant rooms, wonderful pool, great and varied breakfast and other restaurant fair. The best part of this hotel is the staff: friendly from our arrival, greeted us everyday and did everything possible to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible! The rooms were cleaned and tidied early, someone was always sweeping the common areas, the restaurant staff worked tirelessly. One of my favorite hotel experiences! Victoria Prewitt. Maine, USA
