Excellent cost/benefit
The rooms are simple but reasonable to the price. There are two common areas (sage and terrace) that make all the difference.

I do not recommend.
I didn't like the maintenance conditions of the room. The window air conditioning was in a very poor condition. The hotel was fully booked and the receptionist told me that she only had one room option left to offer me. In this option, the air conditioning was also precarious, but it was working, unlike the room I was originally offered. Furthermore, I had to ask several times for the bathroom sink drain and the toilet to be unblocked, because the water went down very slowly. The toilet was only unblocked when it was blocked. As for the sink drain, I don't think it was even touched, because the problem remained throughout the stay. Reception claimed this was normal. The internet was unstable, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't work.

Exceeded expectations: Priced well, clean rooms, good shower, convenient location, friendly daytime staff
First off, the rooms are very clean. They provide a clean (packaged) towel, along with flip-flops for use in the room. The room came with a hot water shower, safe for storing valuables, air conditioning (not usually needed but still nice), a mini-fridge, and wardrobe/dresser with a couple hangers for clothes.
The price is also very good. During other trips to Sao Paulo I used to stay at another hotel in the Liberdade neighborhood which was double the price of this hotel but the same level of quality.
The area is a bit sketchy at times, especially night (honestly all of Sao Paulo is in my opinion), but overall very close to the Republica metro station so it's easy to get around. It also also super close (2 minute walk) to Edificio Copan. There are a number of good restaurants nearby as well at different price points along with shops selling typical Brazilian snacks. There is also a mini-mart about 3-5 minutes away that was good/convenient for buying water, snacks, etc at low prices.
Lastly I want to acknowledge a few staff members. There is a lady that wears glasses at the front desk/reception that was very polite/helpful. Also my safe box in my room was not working and the technician that fixed it and works for the hotel was also very good/positive.
Note: Breakfast is included in the price but I did not try it during any of my 3 days so I cannot comment on the taste/variety.
