Wonderful island!
Nice hotel, nice Jerome.
We've been at Easter for two weeks, and I continue to believe that Kon Koa has the perfect location - away from the main central and noisy part. Of course, and here, as it turned out, there is nowhere to go from local fans of loud night music, who, suffering from the disease of those born on the very Pupa of the Earth, wanted to put both on the needs of tourists and, indeed, hotel owners, who are not citizens of Pupa - that is, all those on whom the Pupavotsi live. But with luck, and this annoying music passes you, you will really enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the hotel - just crickets and the ocean. From about 1 a.m. onwards, roosters start to yell periodically all over the island - the windows are quite well protected from them, they did not interfere with our sleep. But, if you're not sleeping at the time, but enjoying a night on the terrace - this funny roll call only adds charm and romance.
In my 2 weeks in Kona Koa, I've never been able to feel fully at a hotel. It felt like I was somewhere in my uncle's country house - so cozy and homely. The questions/problems that arose (essentially little things more to do with individual taste for convenience) were dealt with promptly and, so to speak, from the heart. Made interesting recommendations on the island, understanding our preferences, for which we are very grateful. Well, homemade bananas, mangoes and even basil (think about it - basil from a vegetable garden in the Pacific into instant soup!) is, of course, a separate story that has stayed with us.
To recap, I would say this - Easter is not just the Istacans, with all due respect and interest in this mystery. The island itself is a wonderful place that seems completely impossible to recognize in a couple of days. If I were asked for advice, I would recommend spending the money on staying there longer than on guides with their wild prices and a cursory tour. Get a car (this is also possible at Jerome's) and drive yourself. Volcanoes, the wonderfully beautiful east coast. You will see that a lot can be viewed completely free of charge, a lot of paid is perfectly visible from the road and not necessarily go inside. And on the volcano Ranno Raraku you will not be allowed in the end anyway - in the quarries you will also see nearby only what is visible from the road. If funds are not limited or time is short, the issue is removed. And if there's a choice - more days or more guided tours - I'd think.
If I ever go back to Easter Island, which I'd really like, I'll surely be staying with Jerome again, and in that same, now-homely, cabin.

Some days in paradise at Kona Koa Eco Lodge… Rapa Nui, Easter Island.
This lodge is the ultimate paradise… Jerome and his family have some cabins at the outskirts of Hanga Roa. We had the Kau Pora for 4 days, and it was beautiful both on the inside, the terrace and the gardens. We also rented a car from Jerome, and he also arranged a full day tour with all the Moai’s, Rano Raraku, Anakena etc with a local guide, Angelo. We can highly recommend Kona Koa Lodge, it’s wonderful!! Wish we could have stayed longer!!

We enjoyed our week at Kona Koa Lodge. We were able to make some meals in our bungalow. The owners were very helpful with everything we needed. The property looks like a tropical paradise. May 2026.

Beautiful room and amazing owners who were so kind and helpful. Rental cars on premises and they arranged my tours. Such an easy experience.

Beautiful, clean, well equipped property. Unfortunately it was not near restaurants, shopping, sites of interest. This place doesn't work unless you rent a car.
