A diamond far exceeding my expectations

On short notice I booked a 4 day stay at this incredible intimate hotel on the beach. I selected a studio as I spend little time in the room. Although I was concerned at booking based on the economical rate I was offered through booking.com, every review stated it was clean and wonderful. My room had a very caribean feel and consisted of a very large comfortable king bed, a bathroom with a large shower, a closet and counter across the front window that overlooked the courtyard. And was spotlessly clean and fresh. Air conditioning kept it very comfortably cool!
From the moment I arrived till the moment I left every staff was smiling, freindly, personal, and appeared happy to be there. Three people stood out with service above and beyond. Behind the bar Henry always smiled in the morning... knew my name and served up a great Americano and literally the best fresh scrambled eggs from the kitchen I have found bar none! In the afternoon... Cristian always came from behind the bar, shook my hand,  said hello, and offered up more ice and a great fresh cocktail. And Elis who greeted me on my arrival went out of her way repeatedly to serve drinks... meals... even translate and ensure I had a great stay... all with a smile that you need to see for yourself!
The meals served from the kitchen never disappointed me and with great value at a very good price.
If you want shiny plastic 5 star tables and linen with impersonal service... Capri is not for you. But if you want to be treated as a great friend... enjoy personal service and great value you can't beat a stay here. I think Capri is more oriented to adults as aside from the beach there is little activity for children which was great for my particular needs. If only one small thing, hot water could have been more plentiful... but wasn't a problem after a day out on the beach and the Dominican heat.
I will certainly return here!!!!

Great location, tiny place

We had a bigger room, so it worked out for us. But some of our friends’ rooms had absolutely no space, literally just a bed, closet and bathroom. But if you’re here for the beach life, this a great location. The beach is steps away. You can hear the waves at night. The staff was great. The food was amazing. WiFi worked well. Only downfall was room size, and no safe.

No go

We rented a air bnb next to this place.
But the appartement was not available.
So they offered us 2 rooms for our family.
They were small rooms and my daughter screamed because she saw a bug cocroach. It was really big. So we were put in a hotel across the street by them. But they didn't take responsibility for that. So I have to pay for this hotel too. While they put me in it.
Awful service. Don't do it.

Awful

Dude 1.5 hour wait for the worst dry fish I've had for 2 people $60+ US dollar and 1 drink. Would NEVER go here again. Could have straight up bought a Costco frozen fish and done way better than this sorry excuse. Shame.

Awful time

I was told that the staff spoke English, they did not. My room was so tiny 2 of us could not walk past each other to go to the bathroom. The door handle broke off and was never replaced. The bathroom window would not stay shut. NO TV in the room. Loud music all night long from the bar. Everywhere We walked around the hotel we were approached to buy drugs. SO many people harassed us to shop at their little shops while we were eating breakfast at the hotel. The neighbor is dangerous, we witnessed a dog fight at the corner of the street. The only good thing I can say is that the food is excellent but it did not make up for the dirtiness of the room and of the beach.
