Nice hotel well located and clean. Good value for money.

Nice hotel 2 blocks from Calderon Park. Well located and clean. Breakfast and lunch are served at the hotel. It is preferable to take the rooms on the second floor, on the first floor there is a lot of noise. Friendly reception staff. Excellent opportunity and value for money.

Beautiful place.

If you need an American style hotel and amenities, don't come here. This place and it's staff are Old World class. We moved in upstairs around the open courtyard and had our own private party. Yes, the WiFi is not good, the TV is in Spanish, but this is Ecuador. The wonderful young lady on the desk at night, Margo, was so lively, friendly and helpful( she went out at night and bought us a bag of ice for our little party) is the star of the show. Do no tskip this place if you are in Cuenca and want some real Ecuador.

Fool’s Gold

We arrived late to the Gran Hiteland the reception was cold. The man who was behind the desk was scary and did not smile and he was also the porter and served breakfast. The room was equipped with a large screen TV which my husband repaired and a lumpy uneven floor. The mattress was caved in and uncomfortable and the sofa was so low to the ground that it was impossible to sit on. The bathroom was clean with nice towels and sufficient toilet paper. When we went to breakfast the next morning the waiter did not want to serve us and shook his hand saying no. He finally served us. When we checked out we were charged 10 dollars for 1 breakfast when it was suppose to be included. Although the price for one night was 28 dollars it was not worth it. Don’t go to this property without confirming that breakfast is included.

Good almuerzo

Fantastic lunch for $3.50, two options to choose from. The chicken soup was very tasty and not salty, which was nice. Decent potato salad served with the hamburgesa. The hamburger was very flavourful. Garden setting of the dining room is very pleasant.

What is the problem with the aqua caliente?

The female staff were excellent and extraordinarily helpful and kind. Not so the male staff who were somewhat indifferent. The bed was very comfortable and warm. Wifi was a problem as there was little to no connection. If you have to ask for the hot water to be turned on every time you need it, then this is a serious problem. Great location.
