Rustic and Quaint Accomodations

El Parque is different, not at all like a typical hotel. You can spend a lot of time looking at all the oddities in the dining room. Breakfast is good. Interesting art is everywhere. The staff are nice and helpful. Restaurants are nearby and the central park is across the street. I recommend you stay at El Parque and ask for the upstairs room. It has an awesome bed, and a big flat screen smart TV that will function with English or Spanish audio. I will visit Ecuador again and I will spend my layover at the El Parque.

Basic, easy one-night stop-over

Good pick if you don’t want to (or can’t) pay gringo prices at the airport hotel. They will send a meet-and-greet driver/car to the airport ($8) even for very late arrivals, at a very competitive price. Located about 7km from the airport (10-15 minutes by car) in the sleepy village of Tababela.
The rooms are very simple, but clean. Breakfast is included — they'll even pack a brown-bag breakfast if you have one of those awful early-morning departures. The staff are always helpful. The Hostal is located right on the central square of Tababela, but even there you will find few places to eat.
Back to the airport is also easy and cheap ($5) since the main taxi rank in town is half a block away, and the staff don’t try to price-gouge you on the return trip, as too many of their local competitors do. You can also arrange reasonably priced day use or a late check-out — for those awful midnight departures.
For me, it's the best place in town (and I’ve tried almost all of them) when you’re stuck at the airport overnight.

Basic but comfortable

We stayed here unexpectedly when Ecuador had political problems and while the accommodation was basic, it was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful...much appreciated. Good breakfast and a really nice seating area/garden

My mom and I stayed at the Hostal El Parque last year in February I think. It's convenient because all the international flights get in at night and there are no connecting flights to Loja until 6 am which would be grueling,so we just stay somewhere budget, sleep in, and take the mid-afternoon flight the next day. We have stayed at various budget hotels, and this was better. Yes, the rooms are small and cheaply made, electrical showers, but all the rooms are set in a gorgeous little garden, so when you step out of your room in the morning it's lovely. The family is great. The patriarch is quite an interesting guy and a retired educator. Breakfast is pretty typical, free, ok. They send a van to pick you up. One of the best deals for sure.

near airport.... great breakfast ... friendly owners

Beds comfortable, shower had great hot water, property had outdoor seating in the garden with lots of flowers and birds, breakfast was very good. Owners are very friendly. Owners provided transportation to airport which is very close. Staff were very accommodating!!
