Cheap

This is a nice place only privates and a big garden where you can park. Rooms are simple but enough. And you can use the kitchen. There is a cheap restaurant. It is on the main street but you don't here that. In the weekends it can be loud from the plaza and restaurants, but stops early.

Multiple reports of theft when I was there

BAD: 1st) I want to mention 3 thefts that supposedly occurred in the 2.5 weeks I was there.
1) My Samsung s7 cell was taken from my room. Since it is not functioning the phone remained in a watertight box that I store a lot of my electronics in. Essentially it never leaves the box because I have no need for it except to return it for insurance when I got back to my country. I went camping for 2 days, and when I returned to my room I noticed it was gone. It's possible that another guest entered my room during 5 minutes or less I was using the bathroom, but I strongly suspect the staff. I believe it was taken from my locked room.
2) $30 cash stolen from the backpack of a girl in the dorms.
3)+300
USD taken from a locked room. The victim claims his money was very well hidden, and also suspects the staff,.
The staff essentially refused to contact the police, claiming that because it was under $500 the police could do nothing. It's not a large hostel and it's very open, so if you were a guest it would be not be easy to enter someone else's room without being noticed. But for a small group of staff working together, this would be simple to do.
While it was cheap, centralized, and had strong Wi-Fi, I ended up paying a lot more in the long run. I regret not filing a police report. Also want to point out that my room was totally concrete and the beds mediocre at best, unlike what I see in the photos.

Worth its price

Hostal Valle Sagrado is really cheap ans it is its main advantage. It is not very clean, but the rooms are comfortable and so thé beds.
They were renovating when I came so it was a bit messy but people were warm and welcoming, and the place is safe.
I recommend for budget travellers!!

Unappealing.

The lady who showed us to the room was pleasant, the WiFi connection was speedy, and the bed was clean and comfortable - BUT - the room was very basic, with a rough, uneven concrete floor, and a large gap in the ceiling with a view up to the corrugated iron roof. (why?) The shared bathrooms were in a sorry state - one toilet was blocked and unusable, and the floor in the other shower/toilet was a mess of water and muddy footprints. The whole place had a real down-at-heel feel, and oozed lack of consideration and respect for guests. This place just did not make us feel good! It's cheap at $7 per night, per person, but I still felt this was way too much for what was on offer. It also seemed insecure - the door didn't fit the frame well, there was no key or lock provided, and there was a gate to allow cars access to a parking area which was open - this also allowed anyone access to the rooms from the street - but this gate was closed at night.

Comfy place for budget travellers

If you are looking for top spot place do not bother. This place is well suited for real budget travellers. It is situated just around the corner from the main square of Vilcabamba and few steps away from amazing place called Pura Vida.
The place looks not very well looked after but the overall atmosphere is warm and friendly. Rooms and cozy and decorated with hand painted ornaments. Toilets and showers are ok, uses its purpose.
Free wifi in whole area of the hostel is available.
I would recommend this place to anybody who is not fussy about the conditions of the hostel, but needs nice good night sleep.
