Improvement to room
After my bad experience of 2 days in the Bahia. The garden suites of Costa Pacifica. We logged a final complaint with the management. We never got to see hotel manager. However reception manager was great. We had our room upgraded to a suite in Costa Pacifica with a sea view. Costa Pacifica in not my favorite place, i do like to stay in the Bahia it is less large hotel and more intimate. Great that the manager gave an upgrade however my previous review stands on the Bahia. I have stayed in this Hotel at least 6 times. i also had my wedding in the Bahia Pavilion. The waiting staff and security staff are very friendly and always greet you with a smile and hello. I know that the review of my comments by management at Costa will be a standard text answer as per all their responses. They will not learn from my comments. Costa is the best hotel in Baler it is owned by Senator Angara. The rest of the hotels are cheap and sub standard to western cliental. Unless on a tight budget and back packing.

As charming as Baler
I went with a big group for the very first Tareptepan Arts and Music Festival. We were initially supposed to be billeted in Costa Pacifica, but we were bumped down to their garden arm, Bahia de Baler. The layout was cute, and there were several villas surrounding the central pool of the property. It was like having an entire village to ourselves, as our group occupied all the cottages. It was about 30 feet from the black beach, where all the surfing action was happening.
The rooms were cozy, with efficient turn down services nightly, and housekeeping throughout the day. We always came "home" to cool room, with an inviting bed and fluffy pillows. Surely, the highlight of my 4-day stay was how well I slept on all nights (and occasionally some afternoon naps!)
Second, the meals we had at Costa Pacifica were always to die for. All the dishes felt as if they were cooked with much love... and it was the cherry on top to have them always served with a smile by knowledgable staff. I'm very curious about my food, and love trying new cuisines and combinations of tastes, so I tend to have a lot of questions about particular ways of cooking or ingredients used in preparation -- and the staff always handled my questions with patience and expertise.
I also loved the scent of the amenities, especially the body lotion, which smelled of sweet coconut satin <3
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, when the opportunity comes!
(One thing to note: my friends complained of sharp edges on the tiles in the swimming pool, and a number of them emerged from a swim with small cuts on their bodies! Perhaps management has not been made aware.)

Another disappointment
Paid over 6,000 Pesos for a room with no amenities, towels, fridge, glasses, water boiler, etc. the towel rack and light in the bathroom was broken as well. We tried to get assistance, but after several attempts, we just gave up. If you book a room at Costa Pacifica and they put you in this hotel, demand a refund or a substantial discount.

Costa pacifica in disguise
Bahia de Baler, which is advertised as a separate hotel is actually completely owned and operated by Costa pacifica. They even use the exact same rate sheet and deceptive pricing policy. Costa pacifica advertises one room rate but charges you nearly 20% more at check out due to a hidden "service fee" assessed on each room each night. This dishonest practice allows them to complete with honest hotels with its published rate while collecting substantially more than its customer think that they will be paying at check out. This practice was one popular about a decade ago but has largely died out due to consumer backlash. It is even illegal in some countries. Their rooms, by the way, are already grossly overpriced for what you get at the published rate.
Also, this hotel is NOT on the beach it is across the alley near Costa pacifica and the view is blocked by buildings in front. It does have a nice pool though.

contact numbers not reachable
I'm just wondering how the reviewers were able to book a room in this resort. The resort has 2 numbers and both are unreachable since l started calling them last week. I've heard good reviews from friends but it's getting to be frustrating trying to contact them. We booked a room at costa pacifica, instead. I hope it's better compared to bahia de baler.
