Incredible views and very friendly host
Look forward to breathtaking views and a truly authentic experience of life in Batad! The host is super friendly, and many walks and walks start right from the property. I absolutely loved my stay at the Hillside Inn and would recommend it 100%.

Great Paronamic Views
We didn’t expect any kind of luxury in Batad since it’s a small village and that’s exactly part of its charm. What you will find instead is peace, quiet, and absolutely stunning views.
We only spent one day and one night there, which honestly wasn’t enough. Looking back, we wish we had stayed longer and taken more day trips around the surrounding area.
You simply won’t find this kind of calm and serenity in Banaue. Batad offers a much more peaceful and authentic experience.

ESCAPE FAST
⚠️ Hillside Inn – Batad: FLEE ⚠️
We relied on internet reviews and great ratings to book this hotel. A few reviews mentioned walking access with stairs, summary accommodation but "so beautiful".
Before coming, I contacted the hotel directly to see if porters could take our 20 kg bags. Answer: no problem, at a cost. At this point, why ask yourself more questions...
The reality on the spot is quite different:
At the finish, road cut due to ground collapse
We are told 30 minutes walk in the mud, then very steep stairs
➡️ If we had known this, we would never have asked for porters and we would have looked for another accommodation
We were 2 couples:
To our friends, we announce that their reserved room is no longer available because a group wants to be together
They are relocated to a so-called “superior” room... with shared bathrooms on the landing
Already very limited.
️ Our room:
Cleaning not done
Cobwebs above the bed
Filthy bathroom: saltpetre, greasy shower head
Apparent electrical wires just above the shower
Cold shower
The next day, rebel:
Our friends still have to change rooms, because the one they occupy is rented to others
New room with smells, dust, beds obviously not changed for a long time
They were just hoping to land a little after several days of changing hotels, with suitcases... normal that they were very angry
⚡ General conditions:
Electricity only via generator from 19h to 21h
No telephone network, no internet
Very complicated when everything goes wrong around
The highlight of the show:
We had to leave very early in the morning to catch our flight to Cauayan.
➡️ Start in the middle of the night, mobile lamps, 30 minutes walk in the mud, uphill.
We apologize again to the porters... if the hotel had the respect to inform us honestly about the situation, we would never have reached this point.
️ Only positive: meals
(and again... at least 30 minutes waiting each time)
Conclusion:
Total lack of information, respect, hygiene and organization.
It is a shame, and clearly an establishment to avoid, despite the beautiful photos and good grades online.

Hostel, not Inn
I spent one night at this inn. While I didn't expect luxury, the standard of accommodations is more akin to a youth hostel than a hotel. Guests are obliged to hike about 15 minutes downhill to the Inn from the paid parking area (P300/day). Rooms are shoddy, with cobwebs in the corner and no outlets for charging devices. The cleanliness of the common unisex bathrooms was questionable, with the top floor bathroom seemingly doubling as a utility area with old paint tins pushed into the corners. Toilets lacked seats or flushing mechanisms. Dust, dead insects and old bars of soap were on the shelves. The walls were thin enough to hear all other guests. Doors appear to close at 9pm. Thankfully the bedding appeared clean, and there was a weak 'hot water on demand' unit in the shower. Given the state of the place I did not eat there, though the food appeared decent. The view is spectacular. Nonetheless, I would not recommend this Inn.

Budget friendly with a Gorgeous View
In reality it really looks like a house turned into a restaurant/accommodation. Rooms are basic and they only provide fans which is not so bad because it's cool during the night. They have a restaurant downstairs which serves decent food. The staff are accommodating and they just basically let you do your thing and they are willing to arrange van transfers for you if you happen to not catch the jeepney going back to Banaue or assist you in anything you need. The best part is they have this insane view of the rice terraces. You can basically chill and have your coffee while overlooking Batad's masterpiece which is one of the few travel destinations that looks even better than the photos. It's very surreal how amazing it is.
The only thing I would love for them to improve though is the bathroom situation. But overall I can't complain. After all we only paid Php1,200.00 for 2 nights and it's really not a place to look for luxurious type of accommodations. I mean duh you're in the middle of the mountains what do you expect.
Also, PSA to all who's travelling to Batad: Please treat the locals with respect. This is not your usual tourist-y place so please show a little bit of decency as this place is a major part of their culture and livelihood. Other than that, have fun!
