A young solo travelers point of view
Short summary:
- Peaceful. A little away from the beaches, but they offer a short shuttle ride there anyway! No problem about distance. (Rent a bike too, SUUUPER fun).
- The food was excellent, 5 stars to the chefs! The prices are of course more than street food, but definitely not overpriced. Well worth every penny :D (PS: I loved every meal, but the free breakfasts were my motivation to get up every morning!)
And the best of all
- The staff. It's hard to understand until you meet them. The friendliest people ever who are more than willing to help in anyway, or simply just have a conversation with. I found them to be more like super helpful friends who really care about you than hotel workers.
(just as a side note, cleanliness and things alike should be taken for granted as such a well rated place, hence I didn't speak about it much. No problems or complaints at all about the cleanliness. Room service whenever you want too!)

AMAZING staff, great stay
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Luis recently and cannot recommend the hotel enough. The facilities are very nice and well kept, pretty much everything you need in a quiet setting. They offer shuttles to all of the beaches/etc in the area so they are easy to access.
That said, what really makes this hotel shine is their staff. They constantly went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

Unforgettable
We arrived only to find out travelbook hadnt organised our reservation, Stranded, hotel staff wer EXCEPTIONAL doing everything in there power to fix a problem they didn’t create!!! They made up a room ~ so clean, facilities looked good but we unfortunately wer too distraught to enjoy although they did offer towels to use the pool ‘so grateful’
Highlight was an amazing breakfast bacon & eggs the nxt morning with fresh fruit & our coffee cups never went empty.....
We can not thank these guys for there outstanding efforts in a v.difficult situation

A personal service that is unbeatable
I can't say enough good things about the staff here. They are so kind and really work hard to make sure you have everything you need. They arranged for a scooter rental, they took care of my laundry, and they arranged a massage last minute for me. The food is good. The setting is beautiful in the hills and the rooms are large and classy. The price is very good too. It is not on the beach so it is quite and peaceful. I have stayed here twice now and will be back in a month or two. It truly feels like my home in Philippines .Thanks To Jess, Analou, Sherwin, Joyce and the whole staff for making me feel at home.

A place to unwind
Checked in last August 5-8 and up for a staycation at Bohol with my boyfriend. Place was perfect for vacationers who wanted to unwind from a hectic work week. It's pretty far from the Chocolate Hills and Loboc side (places to tour around) but it's near Alona Beach and Bee Farm (places to chill at). Commute is possible back and forth Grand Luis and the city for about 15-20 minutes depending on the availability of the jeep and habal-habal. Though you can ask the front desk to give you a ride. In our case, we rented a motorbike from the hotel for 1 day to get to Bee Farm.
Our room (101) looks really great and peaceful with a balcony facing the mountains (TIP: order breakfast and dinner for room service and enjoy your meals with the great view up at the balcony). It's spacious and nice. Since the default bed for the mountain view room is the twin sized bed (there were 2), I requested to push the beds close together instead to which they agreed. They even added a customized foam to fill in the space in between. Price was just right for a 3-night stay. TV channels and wifi usage are limited though. We didn't use much of the aircon for the breeze outside coming from the balcony and the ceiling fan is okay enough to cool the room in the afternoon. The bathroom heater was pretty much okay but water went out twice during our stay specifically early in the morning of our last day and late in the afternoon of our 1st day. But water went back shortly after the outage.
Staff were really accommodating and they made sure we had a great hotel stay. Manager would always thoughtfully check in on us. Driver was really friendly and he even offered us to see some on-the-way famous Bohol spots while headed to Alona Beach. The cooks served right. I loved the breakfast omelettes and blue mackarel sinigang for dinner, btw. The breakfast toast though could be a bit too buttery. Housekeeping wise, though the old cobwebs and rust in the bathroom floor could be a room for improvement.
Overall, the experience was good and the purpose of unwinding was served right. As for the staff who were glad to help us go about and around Bohol, they might find a bit hard to speak Tagalog sometimes, but their warm welcome m would make you come back for another stay again.
