CHILL

Great place for a couple's getaway, specially if youre looking for a chill and nature type resthouse, then this is perfect, clean bedrooms and toilet, warm waters for shower. Food is also great! Try their carbonara out! Thanks Marco for making our stay comfortable! Will definitely come back again next time with my friends!

Confused

I’m going to start this off by saying that I’m easy to please. The room was fine. Wouldn’t expect more for the price. Didn’t really get the idea that the “restaurant” was an option, so don’t get any big ideas on eating there. I saw a worker in the dining area once, in 48 hours, but she was doing laundry.
No wifi. No hot water. That’s all fine, as well. I’m just really not a fan of false advertisement.
If you have luscious designs on sitting on the beach and watching the waves roll in, bring a towel. There is one seat, under a palapa roof with a hole in it. You probably won’t be able to sit in the one seat though, because the employee was holding it down quite a bit, since It’s the only place on the property with any phone reception. I had some important things to tend to at home, is the only reason I cared about being able to use my phone.
Literally every other place on the beach has some sort of seating/dining area/something/anything with sea view access. I mean, who doesn’t want to sit comfortably, and watch the sunset?
I paid for four nights here. I left after two. ONLY because I arrived just at dark the first night, and didn’t find the next AMAZING spot until late afternoon the next day.

Owner and manager should be in jail

Both the owner and the manager,(sisters) are thieves and liars. I had originally arranged for a 21 night stay. The agreed upon price was 25000php (Philippine peso)for the duration. Upon arrival, my girlfriend immediately realized the place was NOT as advertised and convinced me to pay for one week only. The manager, (thief #1) demanded half, so I paid 12,000php and asked for a receipt. She said I would be given a receipt the following day, at which time the cable TV box would also be installed. NEITHER ONE HAPPENED! The day after our arrival we went to Sipalay city to buy groceries. The option to do our own cooking was a large factor in our decision to stay at Sugar Beach House. However, there was no potable water! I couldn't even cook rice! These circumstances, in combination with an emergency in my girlfriend's family convinced us to cancel the booking and return home. The manager offered to refund half! I told her this was unacceptable. She responded that the rate was 1500php/night. This was incorrect but without a receipt, she could say whatever she pleased. I took this up with the owner who actually threatened me with violence! In the end I got back about 65% of what I had paid.
I intend to follow up with the Philippine National Police (regarding the threat of violence), the Tourist Office in Sipalay city, AND the Bureau of Internal Revenue (regarding the non issuance of a receip. These two should be in jail, never mind operating a tourism business. Save yourself money, time and headaches and stay elsewhere. In fact, I would recommend the resort next door - the Sulu Sunset Resort. Friendly staff and owner and seemingly professionally run. I know this because we had all our meals there during our stay at the Sugar Beach House. AVOID THE SUGAR BEACH HOUSE AT ALL COSTS!!

Hidden Gem

This resort is very small only 3 rooms and an eating ,dining,bar type area, but that should not discourage anyone from staying here ,the service from the manager Deanne and the caretaker is quite good and very friendly, the rooms are airconditioned and have cable tv ,but with a spot like this who wants to watch tv . It is so quiet and peaceful here , you can truly relax the sunsets over the water are magical,the beach is very shallow out for about 100mtrs from the shore and at 100mtrs is about 5 ' deep ,there are multiple restuarants down the beach which offer very good food .,and along with that are bars too for a nightime refreshing drink.Our rooms are fairly basic but that is all that is needed .We would come and stay again .John and Gina.

Amazing beach

The place was so amazing people give you a warm welcome when you arrive the special the driver of the boat, the texture of the sand like sugar when you touch it was fine and clean, when you have island hopping you can see different shape of island like turtles island where you can see the ship wreck before/during the World War Two now the ship sorrounded by the different colors and different kind corals and fish like aquarium and this is protect by the people / residence called Bantay Dagat as you roaming around you can see caves and different rocks formation, the water is crystal clear, over all makes my family amazed.
