Relaxing stay after a long day

Excellent! That is how I would summarize my stay at Finlandia Park Hotel Helsinki. Location was good and the surrounding area was fascinating. Hotel services were good and reception was just perfect.

Nice, basic hotel in nice location

Basic, family run hotel in nice location in green Käpylä area. Staff was really helpful, pizza was good, nice summer terrace with local people, ok breakfast and free sauna and pool in the evenings. Sauna is famous from Finnish TV shows in the 90's. Rooms are old but ok, and I got a bigger one so I was happy. Easy access to city centrum with bus or train, tram was not running during my stay due to some maintenance work.

Budget with a capital B. Not a lot around it.

I picked this hotel based on its location and facilities for a business trip to Helsinki. The website makes it look like a modern well presented hotel. The reality is not quite so. The hotel is definitely a budget hotel and is not as modern as it looks. The rooms are probably mid to early 80's. The restaurant serves reasonable evening meals and are reasonably priced. Breakfast is a bit underwhelming but is sufficient. The gym is in some former cellar and is uninviting. I did not venture down the long corridor to the pool and sauna so cannot comment on that. The hotel is about 800m from the local train station so is about a 8 minute walk up the hill. Trains seem to run every few minutes into the city main station so is convenient if you want to be close to the city center but not right in it. Not a terrible hotel but it is certainly not as sleek as it looks on line.
