Once in a Lifetime Experience!
We had the most amazing stay at the Invisible Forest Lodge! The customer service was exceptional from accommodating an early check-in, dealing with dietary restrictions while still giving exceptional food, and providing outstanding friendly service. The lodge itself is located in a beautiful location and the mirrored suites blend seamlessly into the natural environment. Our suite was very private and provided a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. We took full advantage of the private Sauna (which doubled to quickly dry our laundry we washed in the provided washing machine) and the private outdoor hot tub. The booking included breakfast and dinner, but it was not your usual hotel meals. This was delicious three course breakfasts and five star quality high level multi course dinners. The best food we had our entire trip which included London and Helsinki! Paula took great care of us during the day even helping us check in early after a very long travel day (and night) when we could barely keep our eyes open, accommodating our dining schedule around our outings, and just generally providing a smile with every interaction. All the staff were exceptional. Coming at the end of March was risky to see the Northern Lights but we saw them both nights! First night we took a semi-private tour we booked through the lodge website to Northern Finland and caught some amazing northern lights. The second night was clear and we actually had a spectacular show of lights right at the hotel. A short walk down to the properties lake provided a great viewing spot but we also had a great view right from our own hot tub and large window wall of our suite! Once in a life time experience. We cannot recommend more. The only complaint (which comes from my husband) is that there were no slippers provided to go with the robes in the suite. A small price to pay for such a great stay!

What a treasure!
The Invisible Forest Lodge was wonderful and our favorite location of our entire two weeks in Finland. Beautiful setting, and award-winning cuisine. Each room had a sauna plus a washer and dryer. The washer and dryer were a real luxury for us! I can't say enough about the dining room staff and the quality of the food. We could have been in a 3-star Michelin restaurant! They also featured an interesting dinner in an igloo experience. We tried it, but I recommend skipping that and staying in the cozy restaurant. Though it was heated, you still had to wear all of your winter outdoor clothing for comfort. This hotel is fairly new and there are a few things they still need to work out. They had a pretty complicated room door entry system which was operated off of a key pad with the guest's personal 6 digit code. Sometimes it worked easily and sometimes it didn't. One night I had to have my friend let me out from the outside, by typing in my code! Also there were some icy areas that were pretty treacherous. One was outside the dining room on the path to the rooms. It was right next to the hot tubs which splashed water on the ground and froze. You had to walk through it. There was a main stairway that should have been completely swept, but wasn't and you had to hang on for dear life. Keep in mind this was in the middle of a cold, icy winter.

Amazing Experience.
Having sourced several spas in the area, this was the top pick online. It was also the cheapest. So why is it then the top pick, yet most affordable? I take a 15 minute taxi ride from my Air B’n’B to go and investigate.
Upon entering you’re greeted by Edgar. He’s pleasant, polite and professional. He proceeds to give you a short introduction and ensures you’re familiar before you continue your session. I’m given a courtesy pair of sliders, a towel and a bath robe.
The changing rooms are pristine and the lockers easy to use. Showers are immaculate as is the toilet area. I enter the sauna and there’s just a woman sat there on her phone. I ask her if she minds I add some water to the coals? After she kindly agreed, I poured some albas oil into the water and added it to the coal in order to increase the temperature.
I poured approximately 8-10 ladles of water as it was far from adequate sauna temperature. I placed a towel on the bench and laid there approximately 15 minutes. I then got up again and poured another five ladles of water onto the coals. I then went to lay on the bench again. Music plays in the background throughout the spa. It’s folk/pop music sung in English. Not too invasive thank goodness.
The sauna is approximately 3.5 meters by 5 meters. The ceiling is approximately 2.5 meters high. So you need to regularly add water to the coals to ensure maximum benefit. The one way smoked glass gives you a panoramic view of the outside garden area and inside the chill out area.
I then head to the jacuzzi, there are four in total. Two are in use, they’re the perfect temperature. No cold plunge pool or lake but customers I see sit in the snow to cool down. Feeling refreshed, I head to the dining area. I pour myself a much needed glass of water.
The delightful Andreea seats me and takes my lunch order. I request the soup of the day, slow roast pork with mashed potato and vegetables. The soup was vegetable soup served with croutons. It was devine, tasty and the perfect temperature.
Next up was the main meal itself. It really didn’t disappoint at all. I felt like I was in a Michelin Star restaurant. Sublime food and cooked to perfection. The pork was melt in your mouth, the red wine gravy complimented the mashed potatoes, asparagus, parsnip and carrot puree. The flavours harmonised beautifully. Finally I’m brought a pice of blueberry pie. Well actually it was a small piece of cake. Absolutely delicious. It was complimented by some vanilla sauce.
Feeling like James Bond, I asked Andreea could I please have a Glögi? Sure enough she brought me a blueberry alcoholic one. This is synonymous in Finland. It’s a spiced beverage with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. Served with a smile, Andreea engages in light conversation and is pleased I enjoyed my meal and drink.
After 15 minutes of digesting my meal, I take a seat in the chill out area. I feel like some more sauna and jacuzzi. As nobody was in there, I proceeded to enter and take a spot. Again I added 8-10 ladles of water with albas oil. After five minutes, Edgar from reception came to inform me that sessions are only one hour. However as other guests were having lunch, I could have another twenty minutes.
I thought this was absurd. I also noticed that all jacuzzi’s outside had been switched off and covered up? What kind of establishment is this? Is there rationing with power, a curfew in the area? Is there an energy crisis I’m unaware of? A spa session should surely last an afternoon.
Not a regimental two hrs? Where’s your relaxation and chill time? Who wants to keep an eye on the time? That’s my only criticism, it’s not long enough. Everyone has a different agenda. Whether you’re a visitor, on holiday or local. The two hour time slot is ridiculous and needs to be more flexible. Other than this, a highly enjoyable visit.
